Or scrounge up an old motorhome 440 draw through turbo setup. A small turbo will increase efficiency and boost power a bit.

Ok this sounds like a good idea. Another thing is that the transmission I have is a short one with the yoke. I was thinking of buying this http://raleigh.craigslist.org/pts/4787418594.html

the one I bought did not include the kick down linkage, i can buy this and take the parts I need then sell the engine. Can someone confirm that this transmission will fit my 440? I have talked him down to 300 but want to make sure it fits. I dont need another engine in my garage.

Thanks guys

Big block trans are all interchangeable. 400 2 bbl kickdown rod will need to be modified at carb to work . If I remember correctly the torque convertor will not be an issue.

It's a little pricey but I just put this kickdown cable on my 440/727. I was sick of messing with the stock linkage.

Can you explain this a little more? Never heard of that.
