Got a Cool Hood Ornament

Post by MikeMc »

I've been looking for a cool hood ornament for some time now. I was very close to getting the Packard Goddess of Speed ornament (naked woman stretched out holding a spoke wheel) till I cam across this one 8" tall ornament. Anybody have any idea what it came off of? Any one?

Looks like a custom radiator cap cover for a Mercury based on the winged helmet.
If I didn't build it, it ain't mine.

I used to have a toy Delahaye car, I think. I definitely remember the name.

I hope you have someone guarding your truck. Even a replica goes for $400. http://www.ebay.com/itm/French-DELAHAYE ... 4897.l4275

This one sold for a little over $1900 USD.

Ya that's the ebay one I bought. Been wanting something cool for some time. When I spotted it I matched the truck, different. With the floor boards lowered I don't sit-up real high so it's cool having the hood ornament sit just as tall as me :Thumbsup

Hood ornament was $400. Not 2 cheap!

The back half is '01 F350 service truck. Using this F-350 frame really made my life a lot easier. Got rid of the big 6 lug drum brakes, now it has rear disk, sway bar, newer leafs, the big bonus a 38 gallon fuel tank at the rear.

Whats nice about the service truck model is the frame fails are flat. Pickup versions have a rise where the rear axle is. Bet you didn't know that :thinking

I like it in several ways...First, you have a BIG freakin' hood ornament! Second, it is not mounted with some little pedestrian-friendly spring - you have a genuine pedestrian/Zombie killer there, assuming said pedestrian/Zombie doesn't go under the truck first! And, it's something you NEVER see these days!
