How tall is the roof? Cold you deck the rafters and put up a set of stairs (attic space retractable type) and use upstairs as storage?

It is slow but steady progress - I should finish the east wall today - if all goes as planned. I am liking the way it is turning out, and think it will work well in the end.

That's an excellent way to re-use old wood. I don't even know if I'd paint it.... :Thumbsup

Yeah, it looks neat or rustic that way, but the shop would end up being too dark. No matter how bright, they are always too dark... Paint it white... or at least antique white. I had bought "commercial" antique white paint in 5 gal. pail at Home Depot cheaper than a couple of reg. gallons of paint.

Even though I have not been able to spend much time here on the forum lately, I have made some progress on my shop. I have wired in the 220, added wiring for the new lights, added a door to the West wall that goes into a lean to on the side of the barn that I will use for "bulk" storage, and I have finished insulating and siding the walls. Hopefully this next week I can get started on the ceiling. Here are a few pictures to show a little bit of the progress.

The interior walls proved to be challenging, the shop is not exactly square, or level (they never worried about it - it was a barn), and the 100+ year old wood was not always straight, or ideally sized. But I love the way it has turned out, and I will add trim around the top of the wall to hide the fact that it is not level, once I put my ceiling in.

Thanks! I pulled it off of an old barn that I had to tear down - figured I would put it to good use. I am happy with the way it looks - for 100+ year old siding.

I pulled the m201 in for a "test fit" last night, and it pretty much takes up every inch of space I have in the shop. It is certainly not ideal, but it will work - it is much better than what I had before (working outside)! I am going to go ahead and finish the ceiling and the lights, but I just wanted to take a look at what I had for now. I have about 6" on the front and the back end, but it will fit, and the doors will close.

If you can swing it , sheet your ceiling with white roofing tin. it will go up fast and really improve your lighting. Nothing worse than having a nice shop with nice lights and still having to use a flashlight all the time. I worked in a truck shop for awhile that had poor lighting , it's very unhandy.

I'd definitely paint the walls, too. You need all the brightness you can get. Yeah, the walls look "rustic", but light is what matters.

Looks like it is coming right along!

If you're inside, just take a DEEP BREATH and then you'll be able to close the door. Just kidding around :joker

I do have plenty of room on the sides, but I will not be able to close the doors on the shop and work on it - unless I want to crawl through the cab or roll under the truck to get from one side to the other! I am going to measure, and see if I turn the truck at an angle in there, if I will gain enough to make it worth my time.

I am definitely still doing the ceiling, walls, and lighting, I just moved the truck in to get a feel for what I have, and to do a few "minor" things to the truck, while waiting on the funds for the next part of the barn project.
