Found a Shortbed and it's all mine!!!

Post by jimharold »

Hello All,

Finally found a shortbed, 318 V8 with auto trans. Here's the kicker, brand new tags and it purrs like a kitten. No project truck, just a used truck that if I don't want to do the repairs, I can drive it down to the shop if I want. That option was worth a lot to me. Wiring is all stock, no mess under the hood. The cab has new floors and the original rubber mat. Front glass was changed a few years back. The AM radio even works. The owner used it and maintained it as a daily driver. Gas gauge doesn't work so that's my first job. I think I'll keep this truck stock and only clean it up. I have a 47' Dodge truck that is my fun project. So look forward to post about finding parts as I need them, and minor upgrades for safety maybe.

Talk at you all later,
Jimharold.

Great find man, pics please!

BTW - I saw a new sending unit on eBay for about $80 or so a week ago. It would fit my 68, so not sure what year you have:

Looks right to me from memory. No idea what their feedback on it is.

I actually think that paint will clean up.

I washed mine, hit it with a clay bar and then hand rubbed with polish compound (carefully)

After that I waxed it and it shined up well for original paint. Yours might too!

Nice! :clap
