Reproduction Sweptline Parts

Post by HellBelly »

Just a heads up for what it's worth

I've been working with a US based company to have the following Items reproduced.

65 1/2 - 71 Rear Taillight lenses
68-69 Front Turn lenses (Amber and Clear)
70-71 Front Turn lenses (Clear)
70-71 Side marker lenses (Amber and Red)
61-68 Gas Pedals
Brake Pads
Clutch pads
and other stuff..

This is a few months out though. I have already fronted all the tooling costs and purchased all the NOS stuff to make the castings. We'll see what happens.

I'm not sure i can compete with the Argentina guy, but I'll see what i can do.

Scott, this would be great. Your dedication to our trucks is amazing. I think you'd do ok b/c the Argentina guy never really has alot available. I think there would be a few of us that would pay more for your products anyway.

I was thinking about this today.
AMD(auto metal direct) is doing a lot of mopar sheet metal.Wonder if they know about the truck market?
I would say rocker steps and floor pans at first.Seems to be the most wanted and would also fit a wide range of model years.

OH YEAH :clap :clap :clap
are you sure that the defrost vents from other models aren't the same ? Mopar was usually pretty good about making one part fit multiple applications. Like they did with starters !!

I agree with several previous posts- including a hats off to you sweptline dedication Scott. :clap
Also the statement- buy American is totally true. :usa Ya, argintina guy might make them cheaper, but they may not be the quality of American made products- you get what you pay for. If you do go ahead with reroduction parts Scott, I am also interested.

thanks,

Jared

Would they make clear fender marker lights for a 1970? I am looking for a set and then put an amber led bulb in it. Right now looking at fender markers for a Peterbilt 359 (about as close as I can find.

Well he did say US based company, but many US based companies make parts overseas. He did not specifically say the parts would be made in the USA but that might be what he meant. Technically Argentina is also American, right there is South America.

Vintage Power Wagons is apparently still offering repro fuel pedals. They were priced at $35, and I called to get one a couple of years ago, but they told me that the supplier had just raised his price such that they were now $75 instead. I said forget that, they agreed and said they were going to drop the item from the catalog. I now see them listed in the current catalog at $69. Not sure where they come from, but I'm not buying any at that price.
