Sweptline.Org Donations

Post by MountainMoparRobin »

We all know things are bad, and this site is growing to the point, Well if you've read Hellbelly's post, we are sucking resources that other website's use also.
So we have been enjoying this site with Hellbelly footing the bill, and yet I was in the process of adding yet something else large to the site, that would be the first ever to the internet. But we first need to save this site. on the Home page their is a "Donate" button we need to contribute to save this site so we can continue to "Communicate" to each other. if you can't find the button let me know and I'll supply a link here.
the amount of the donation doesn't matter $1.00-whatever, the fact is we all need to give something so that this site can have the server it needs!
Then we can look at adding yet another feature that no site has, not chevy, ford, toyota or anyone.
PLEASE GIVE

Is there a way we can donate without doing it online? I really don't like to use any type of credit card over the computer, I have been bitten in the past. I would gladly send a money order or certified check to help with this issue.

And so often we don't think about how the site stays up, then also if you look you can see he has done like others and found other ways to help finance, like the trucks he is selling parts from to pay for the upkeep on the site. Just like CSSRegistry who get some aid keeping up the CSS Registry by selling Calendar's and "T" shirts through Cafe Express, things they have done to keep these forums available to everyone to come and figure out whats wrong with our trucks, or get groups together, :Thumbsup We tend to overlook that it has to be paid for somehow. :pale

Done.

I'll add a reminder on my work calendar to donate regularly. These forums are my main (and often only) way to stay connected to folks with the same interests.

Thanks to Hellbelly for providing us with a place to come together!

Dont know if this would be helpful or not, but will throw this out anyway..... A jeep website I look at sometimes has a Membership deal for the website. If you are a member, you get a sticker for your ride, and paying members name comes up in a different color. So a member is in red, while a nonmember is in black. Maybe make the membership $20-$25 bucks???? Anyone else think this may work here???

Guys, i really appreciate the donations... I really do! I think I'm moving to a different provider pretty soon, still doing research. All the donations will be going towards that cost.

Regarding the membership $$ question above, i understand what your asking, but I've always taken pride in not asking people for money to access this site. I do it out of my own free will and cash. Donations do help, but i don't like asking for it.

If some of you have never read why i started this site go to http://www.sweptline.org and click on the "About" page.

My motivation comes from my father. I want this site here to help others, keep these trucks on the road and have Sweptline ralleys!

Thanks again everyone!!

it was like that for many years, where you had to have a photo site and then do HTML coding for the link, this left only a few very few people able to post pictures and a very cumbersum process for the rest to go through, log in to the host, then upload, then go to the forum, then go back and get the address, then go tp forum and create a link, then always have to find out why its just a RED X, fix problem. It would take literally hours to get 1 picture up, many people didn't post pictures for it was just as difficult to find a host that would allow the HTML link or let people see the picture without having a password. :banghead :banghead :banghead

I'm one of the newbies here. Without this site, I may never have gotten my W100. All the great information and experience
available here gave this wrenchiphobe the confidence to make the leap to old iron. I know whatever goes wrong someone
will point me in the right direction. That's worth some bucks. Donation sent.
