Inside door pannels question
Inside door pannels question
Hey guys, I just got hooked up with a very nice set of replacement door pannels for my 68 D100. They are black with the chrome trim around the perimeter and will look sooo nice. The arm rests are in great shape but the black finish on the pannels themselves are kinda faded. Would you guys recommend painting them? I want to make them look like brand new before I put them on. I took the arm rests (handles) off and washed them up and are ready to paint if you guys think it's a good idea. If so what type of paint would you suggest. I'm obviously thinking about a spray paint. Please help! Thanks

cowboy hit the nail on the head, well sort of. it spray vynil dye, its not paint. goes on like spray paint, but actually re-dyes the panel. if its a plastic panel, the krylon makes a new piant that jams on plastic. steel panel id use appliance paint, its an epoxy base and is real tough. im not sure what yours are made of, trucks too new for my taste!

Try this 1st:
Try armor all 1st.I've seen armor all turn dull panels into new looking in a matter of seconds. Try it on a small inconsicuos area 1st.That way if they are to faded to be "restored" by armor all ,you won't have so much armor all to remove before painting (vinyl dying).

personally I prefer my panels upholstered in black leather.... but that could make the trim around the sides hard to fit on. Let us know how it goes
Thanks, Clint
