Im gettin a haircut and.....

Post by Red »

Me and the boys went to get our turkey day haircuts tonight, Our barber does this in the back of a bar on wed and thursday nights. ok I know it sounds weird, but this is small town Missouri. Im talking to a buddy in the chair and talking hunting and Mopars. This other fellow is following our conversation then says "Aint you that guy in Capplen who's got all them Dodge trucks?" so, expecting to be called a weirdo for being into the trucks, I replied "that would be me" To my suprise he informed me he was moving soon and had two 64 sweptlines he had to move quick and cheap! one shortbed and one long, both D-100`s. Guess I know what Im doing saturday afternoon! Another Buffalo Hunt!

Red, I'v heard that in life "timing is everything". Sounds like your timing was perfect! It does seem a little unfair that you knock down 2 with one stone . Good luck on the hunt.............Goldie

hey red, sounds like a bit of your luck flew this way. i was approached yesterday by a man at checker auto parts asking if i was the guy with the old dodge. found out he had recongnized me from my 66. says hes got some property in hobbs that needs clearing. on it is a 64 ute and a 70 long bed d100 that i can have if i just get them off his property. gonna get with him sometime this weekend and see about running out there. claims they are rough, but both are complete. the ute has a bad rear axle, it locked up on him, and the 70 needs some tranny work. both are 318's, both are 4spds. looking forward to doing some hunting myself this weekend. :Thumbsup

i got the 3.23 under the trailer too. was gonna swap it out and put me a dana axle up under the trailer so it matches the crew. thats if i get the trucks. man, if chris wants to see just how good that poly runs, throw that 3.91 chunk back in it, she gots balls the size of texas with that gear. runs hard on the freeway, but it ran at 3000-3200rpm for 14 hours straight on 2 seperate trips to houston. so it aint too bad. hell, it ran at 3600rpm for 2.5 hours solid on one trip. got tired of going 65mph, so at fort stockton i hammered down till she hit 80 and held it. watching the gauges close, truck never got hot, never fluctuated a bit on oil pressure, and sounded like a freaking 1960's era nascar at that rpm thru those pipes, passing imports was fun, scared one dude right out of the lane :Thumbsup it would also make the speedo accurate with a 3.55 gear, the 3spd you got is set up with the 3.91 speedo gears.
