Fair price for '68 crew cab W200 for sale

Post by Neil »

Hi. I am currently looking at buying a '68 W200 PW, crew-bad, short fleetside bed. California truck with factory air conditioning. It has the 383 with a four-speed behind it.This truck has zero rust that i can see, is super straight, original red paint with white top is faded. owner has gone though it mechanically and put new brakes, power steering, new bearings, brake hoses, electronic ignition, tires, etc. The interior is pretty good except for a shredded front seat. I am trying to get an idea of what it's worth. I haven't driven it yet, but owner says it drives fine, and it runs good. So what's it worth?????? anything i should look out for in these trucks? I really dig the crew-cabs. Thanks

Bench seats aren't too tough to come by for these. Sounds like the truck
might be worth at least $3500.... probably a bit more if its all original
and in good body & mechanical shape. A W200 big block crew cab will
put a dent in your beer money for sure just to feed it gas.... you're
looking at about 10-13mpg on the road with 3:54's.... if its running 4:10's
or the "mountain goat gear" [4:88's]..... you'd better talk to your financial
advisor about a home equity line of credit
John
PS..... the twin stick t-case will get you 2wd low..... kind of cool eh?

Thanks Hob,
It has 4.10's i believe. It won't be a daily driver so I'm not worried about the gas mileage. It is a very complete truck. Hopefully I can snag it for not too much $$$.
