If you watch NASCAR there is always advertisements about a new automotive technicial school. I can't remember the name of it but you can go to nascar.com and there you can find information on the subject. There are also fan clubs that are extended to the crew members as well as the drivers. They can probably give you the best info on this subject. The ASE patch that you see on the uniforms of the local mechanics are gained by them attending specialized training supplied by the dealerships.

Back in my day If one did not wish to persue pure academia there were Vocational High Schools that taught all the trades. I do not think that they exist anymore.
Good Luck

This place gets a lot of attention on custom car shows. There should be a tech school / Vo-tech near you also.

There used to be a school in Detroit called "Mo-Tech". I had a friend that
graduated from there in '83..... very good accredited ASE school.

:study You may want to look into Denver Automotive and Diesel College, there are some schools in Arizona and in Wyoming that are outstanding. Some NASCAR teams pull from these schools and the one in Wyoming offers the Hot Rod Fabrication classes. The important thing to remember that you should pick out a school that offers an "associates degree of applied science" so you can add credits towards a BA degree with additional college credits instead of an "associate’s degree of occupational studies" that you cannot add to.
