97 fuel pump

Post by cowboy »

I just put a fuel pump in my wifes 97 Ram at the tune of $245, & I could'nt charge her labor , & be able to keep up on my husband points, so I can get some riding in on my Harley :Thumbsup , back to the tank, I looked over it real good & decided to just drop the tank , could'nt find my book so I called the dodge house they said to pull the bed off , thats how they do it , let's see 2 bolts on tank & lower , 6 bolts on bed plus wires & lifting a heavy bed up & off , it's a no brainer for me , so I get the pump / filter out/ float out , about 1 hr called around different parts houses, & $224.99plus tax was the best anyone had , so now she's happy & thats makes my happy & my life a little easer  :Thumbsup

Cowboy, I feel your pain. I had to put a fuel pump in my daughter-in-law's 98 GMC Safari van. The pump and filter cost me almost $400. I had to drop the tank, and of course, it was in the middle of winter, cold and raining. Fortunately, when I realized what he problem was I tapped the bottom of the tank, the pump started and I was able to drive it to my garage. It seems to me that the electric pumps on late model cars are the weak link.
