POLY HEADERS!!!

Post by oneowner71 »

Was searching through some sites for car parts and came across this. Bit pricey, but look awful nice... and how often do you come across 318 poly headers that can come ceramic coated... check it out, poly guys

just trying to look out for you poly guys... Why don't they fit. With the size in the engine bay of a truck versus a car, I would think if they can squeeze into a car, the truck should be easy. Not enough drop on them??
Thanks, Clint

The problem I see with a truck application
with these headers is that they would
run right into the crossmember that goes under the bell
in the 3 and 4 speed trucks and they would never
clear the direct drive starter.
They might work with a 727 application if you remove
the rest of the crossmember and the replacement
spaner brackets that link the cut crossmember. :2cents

just a curious question. i did this once on a v-8 vega i built due to the same basic problems with exhaust manifold clearence. could you perhaps switch sides with the headers to make them fit, you know, put them on backwards? then you would have the dump facing a bit forward, you 180 the pipe down the side of the oil pan, and your in bussiness. just a thought, it worked for the vega :Thumbsup

I have duster headers on my 69 318 , I had to have a S shape pipe from the coletor , to down under the crossmember then back , still have more then enough ground clearence , as they have never hit bottom , even in all my offroad dirt road fun

The crossmember I refer to is not on a 69 truck, 68 and
earlier trucks had a crossmember that the bell
housing would have mounted to on the hydro bell trucks.
The 69 and later trucks all used a rear mount for the
trany, manual and auto, and did not need this crossmember.
If you drop into my photo site I have a photo of one that
was factory cut out to install a 727 in a D200.
