Good to see so many firefighters and paramedics.
When I was a ranger for the National Park Service I did wildland and structural fire [engineer/operator] was a parkmedic [paramedic w/o cardiac module] and worked in the search and rescue office. Now that I'm 60 it is hard to look back and think how much fun and excitement was involved. Miss it BUT don't if you know what I mean.
Keep up the good work guys.

I know exactly what you mean. I worked for Portland Fire for almost 27 years and retired in December of '99. Can't hardly believe it has been that long. I do sometimes miss it a bit when I hear sirens and see rigs going on calls and I occasionally miss the camaraderie of a good crew. Since retiring I have spent a couple days a week about 8 months or so of the year driving semi which I also did some while still firefighting. No work at my usual place this year so far. I got hooked up with Tony Garcin at Dunrite converters and have been building valve bodies for Dodge diesels. I built enough of them to put myself out of work this morning. :Thumbsup  He uses some specialty manufactured parts for them and is out of one piece. We have a trans on the bench so he says he is going to teach me about rebuilding them now. I told him I've been spending too much time at the shop already and didn't want to be a full time trans builder. Says he knows that but wants to give me the basics so I don't get the shaft if I am ever someplace who knows where and have trans trouble. :pale So that's a good thing. We hooked up the scanner and his loaded trailer today to mine to see how the converter performed. No slip which surprised him but it is all stock at this point but I was happy about that. That's my story and I'm stickin' to it! :clap

Hola All

I am a "Taxi Cab Driver". I fully enjoy doing this since I get to speak with all kinds of people while they are captive in the back seat. If they get bored listening to me talk about trucks and cars, they seem to act as if they are sleepy and "fall ah-sleep". When this happens I "pat" the peddle a couple of times and act as if the engine has stopped. Only once at about 2 PM did the ride/fare want to call another firm.

Facilities engineer with Lockheed Martin. Cool job, if you can handle the stress, hours, and always being wrong regardless of who was right in the end! It's cool to head to work in the middle of F-22's, F-16's, and the new F-35 (picture taken in "my" building)!
