steering

Post by FredM »

If you are in the NW and see this pickup, or a 4 door that looks very simular, check out the steering. http://www.sublimityharvestfest.com/ima ... /546-6.jpg

Dan said he would send or post the details of how he put the newer steering box in without welding.
the above has tilt also, it's his sons pickup

a cheaper method to install power steering that we can do

Fred, Where in the NW? Santium? isn't that in Oregon? I've been thinking about trying to find that same truck (pie plate, short wide box) to transfer the running gear from my mud racer into. I should have a Sweptline race truck don't ya think? I need power steering in my D300. Keep us posted.

Does this guy have a brother that lives Washington named Duane? I sold Duane a 70 W200 that he planned on building into a puller so he can play with his brother who pulls a Swept in Oregon.

They are in the Grants Pass - Roseburg area
he is goiong to try and get pictures if he can get hold of a digital camera
the basic is to weld up a bracked to bolt the steering box to
on the front of the frame

Just a guess, but I would say he used a steering mount and box from a 72-93 W series truck? This is the same thing that I'm working on for my 68W300. Just bought the box and am waiting for the thing to show up from Brown (UPS). Let me know if this is the same.

Hi,
I know that it a steering box out of a newer pickup
not sure if it was a D or W or even it that matters
I just glanced at it and it looked good
with no welding on the frame.

when he sends the info you will see that he did a sweet job

I'm still working on mine. Waiting to get the early box mounting bracket. Will get some photos as soon as the mount shows up.
