New member with 69'
Hi Guys,
I'm a new member from Denver. I've been lurking here for a while doing research. I just bought an amazing 69' and almost 100% original condition. Original paint, wheels, interior, etc. It's going to be my daily ride during the fall and winter months and possibly my new full year daily.
Here are some photos. The photos make the outside look better than it really is, there is some awesome patina and wear that didn't show up in the photos. The inside looks almost brand new. It's remarkable.
I may be asking a few questions from time to time. I'm looking forward to learning and hopefully sharing too.
I won't be changing much on the truck as I want to keep it as original as possible.
It does new a new windshield and gasket. Can any local members recommend a good Denver glass company?
Best,
Danny

The glove box DODGE emblem and the instrument cluster bezel are very scarce! I thot those were only on Adventurers....
Nice ride!

Re: New member with 69'
Thanks for the warm welcome, guys! I was pretty excited to drive it home Saturday. I drove it 45 miles on the interstate and it did amazing. It has the 318. I think I may repaint the rear bumper, repaint the wheels white under the hub caps, redo the red in the emblems, repaint the black in the side chrome, add a bed line, change the rubber and drive drive drive. I want to leave all the original beauty marks and leave it as original as possible. It's an amazing design.
Good eye, Jim! It is as 74' VW. I also have a 55' Ford F100 next to it... Those were my last two projects.
Thanks,
Danny

Very nice truck! Is that a Custom badge above the drivers side mirror?
Re: New member with 69'
Thanks, 65indy - I hope you get yours back on the road soon too!
Wally, cool! I love the look of the trim.
CMR - Yes, it does have the Custom badge.
Thanks,
Danny

Ah nuts... I can't see the '55 F100. Maybe a pic of that? In the one picture, I just noticed the reflection of the American Flag in your passenger window. I assume that wasn't noticed by you when you took the picture, but it sure looks neat now!dcombs wrote: I also have a 55' Ford F100 next to it... Those were my last two projects.

I believe 69 used some variation of Gray and 70-71 used Black.dcombs wrote: repaint the black in the side chrome,

Jim, I'll get a picture of all three together.
Sooper, thank you! Do you have a picture of the gray so I can match it? I'd like to keep it as stock looking as possible.
Thanks,
Danny

Jim,
Here are some poor quality cellphone photos I took. I'll get some nice shots this weekend. It's been a busy week. I moved the D100 into the garage next to my F100.
Best,
Danny

Re: New member with 69'
Thanks for posting those Danny! That is the problem with having 3 NICE vehicles and only a 2 car garage! One has to stay outside. Although, on the other side of the coin, one vehicle stays outside where you MUST drive it in order to get something else out of the garage. Nice F100! Can't wait to see more (when you get the chance of course) I remember fixing dents on VW fenders without using any plastic. I would "pick and file" them. I would bump them out using a hammer and dolly into a decent shape and then using a metal file to smooth it out. Hard to explain, but this was sometimes FASTER than using body plastic and waiting for that to dry and then sand and etc.dcombs wrote:Jim,
