I believe it is Ben Simmons.
Could be wrong though.
I haven't gotten my March issue yet.

Yeah, I searched it twice looking for the Dude feature but there was none.ufo wrote:The feb issue had a pic of a dude on the index page yet no story on the truck inside.

The interesting thing is it says "factory 426 truck" but Ben's truck no longer has a 426. It does look like his truck though.

Re: MCG Sweptline
Yep - that would be my old dodge. MCG is "great" at letting owners know when things are going to happen.hemihydro135 wrote:Sweptline in Mopar Collectors Guide issue March 2011! I wonder who own's it
Bill, I don't understand the point you're trying to bring up.soopernaut wrote:The interesting thing is it says "factory 426 truck" but Ben's truck no longer has a 426. It does look like his truck though.

I just figured they wouldn't mention it so boldly if the engine is no longer there.CSS-Registry wrote:Bill, I don't understand the point you're trying to bring up.soopernaut wrote:The interesting thing is it says "factory 426 truck" but Ben's truck no longer has a 426. Re: MCG Sweptline
I don't think they are distorting the truth - it did, in fact, come from the factory with a 426 engine.soopernaut wrote:I just figured they wouldn't mention it so boldly if the engine is no longer there.CSS-Registry wrote:Bill, I don't understand the point you're trying to bring up.soopernaut wrote:The interesting thing is it says "factory 426 truck" but Ben's truck no longer has a 426. Re: MCG Sweptline
I don't either but with the big bold wording people are going to be looking and then realize the engine is a 440 and perhaps think it is a fake. I think it should mention the 426 in the article. Maybe it is just me.CSS-Registry wrote:I don't think they are distorting the truth - it did, in fact, come from the factory with a 426 engine.

Bill, i can assure you no one is attempting to deceive anyone.soopernaut wrote:I don't either but with the big bold wording people are going to be looking and then realize the engine is a 440 and perhaps think it is a fake. however, your line of questioning is probably the biggest reason i am not going to put a 426 back in the truck - there will always be naysayers out there. if i had a 426 in it someone will say "but it is not original"... screw 'em. this 440 is as much part of the history of this truck as the 426 that came in it.
on a lighter note here is Bill enjoying the 440 in April 2010 not too long after i put the truck on the road :)

Re: MCG Sweptline
Congrats on getting the truck in the magazine! Someone actually realized Mopar built a truck other than the LRE and the V-10 trucks!
I had no idea MCG was still around. I quit reading them, and the other Mopar rags, several years ago. Got tired of the endless E-body parade.

I also want to say congrats on getting in the magazine as well. I also used to subscribe too, not anymore though.

Re: MCG Sweptline
I don't have a Dodge anymore but I still subscribe to MCG. I like the mag for the neat articles on Mopars with an unusual story. They aren't a "purest" magazine either as they don't condem cars/trucks that have mods. They sometimes encourage people not to remove a modification if it has been a part of the car's history. The 440 in Ben's truck might fall into that category.

Re: MCG Sweptline
Id like to read that article! Congrats!
I have a problem with the stories in MCG. It usually winds up being a ton of words filling in the actual story. I want to hear about the damn car/truck!! not the 67 Corvette the guy started out collecting on.

Re: MCG Sweptline
Update - i was able to get MCG to send me some copies of the magazine and just got them today.
The article catches the "spirit" of the truck's history in spite of some inaccuracies and miscellaneous facts they got mixed up. Overall i am satisfied with the results.
I really wished they would have let me proof it before going to press - oh well. It's still pretty cool!
Enjoy!
Ben

Just got my MCG today.
Looking Good!
Glad I could view the truck as it was being done though.
