Is this a '71?
G'day again,
sorry about this, but I have just received a photo of the Dodge pickup I am trying to match - my mate's girlfriend described it to me over the 'phone and we settled on a Sweptline, but then she found this photo and I'm not convinced. Can anyone look at the attached pic and confirm the model and year for me?
Cheers, and many thanks in advance
Dave

Re: Is this a '71?
From googling, thats a 1970 Australian production Dodge Truck.
I have seen a toy dump truck on eBay from like Germany that looks similar.

I was going to add that this looks like a Jeep front clip and an International cab with a Dodge box...
Maybe Johnny cash brought it home from work.

Re: Is this a '71?
Thanks everyone,
I didn't think this looked exactly like the trucks I'd seen on these pages and in my web searches. I guess I've got pretty much zero chance of finding a diecast model of this fella!
Although, I can see the attraction - they're great looking trucks.
Cheers, and thanks again,
Dave.

Re: Is this a '71?
It does have a lot of International Harvester feel to it, but it does appear to be a Dodge.
It looks like it has the DODGE across the front and then after quite a bit of searching
I found this image of a 75 Dodge for sale on an Aussie horse site.
Interesting that Dodge made a completely different vehicle. They did the same with
the Australian only Ute, I didn't realize they did another Aussie only truck though.
It was common for them to reuse older designs in foreign markets, and to piece
together different models or years as well.

Re: Is this a '71?
Yup, Ozzy Internationals and dodges were made on the same line with just a different grille and headlights between them. I can't tell if thats a 71, but the grille was same from 63 to early 70's. In New Zealand we got more internationals, they had 2 7"headlights, while the dodges had 4 5" headlights. I don't know why Ozzy didn't do the US Dodges, probably due to having to have a certain amount of Ozzy content, they also made terrible wooden bodied versions of cars pre war for the same reason. My Uncle had an australian 33 plymouth with a wooden body, and it fell apart, luckily he found a New Zealand steel body car laying around to swap the body. Those were the days when you could find an old car laying in the woods, a farm or a swamp and make a hotrod, those days are long gone now (sigh)

Re: Is this a '71?
There ya go! I found lots of International pictures with the similar
cab and doors, but the fenders and grill were always different.
I was starting to suspect Dodge might have worked some deal!

Re: Is this a '71?
Hi everyone,
thanks for all your input it's been very helpful, and really interesting.
After lots more web seaching I've figured out this pickup ("ute" in Australia) is a Dodge "AT4", as in Australian Truck model 4. There is a fella in Australia who is working on some 1:43 scale models; if and when they come into fruition I'll post and let you all know - he was talking about AU$100 per kit (nearly US$100 now, but wait a few years and it might be back to US$70!), and probably will only produce a run of about 100 kits.
I found the Country Roads and Black Bandits diecast series from Greenlight have a '65 and '67 D-100, which seem most similar to the AT4. Apparently ediecast.com have them in stock, and I've ordered one of each. Hopefully they arrive in time.
cheers, and thanks again,
Dave.

Re: Is this a '71?
Found a couple of the Internationals for sale locally. And I was wrong about the headlights.
They're called AB110's for the smaller ones, these ones are a 63 and a 65. Heres a bigger one that has the two headlight setup.
