Fuel gauge voltage regulator repair.

A couple of months ago, I came up with a nice repair for your stock fuel gauge. This video shows a preliminary test of the regulator. I'll be creating another video soon showing the difference between your original mechanical regulator and my new electronic unit. This is not an external regulator th...

Re: Camshafts and Lifters

I'm just going to go with Mopar Performance flat tappet Hemi grind and see what happens. I haven't heard anything bad about Mopar Performance cam kits, except one guy mentioned a couple lifter collapse problems. But nothing about wiping out lifters or cam. The Hemi grind is just under .500 lift and ...

Re: Is this a NP445 truck?

Mark, As for the NP745 mentioned.... I assume you mean the A745 3spd which was the 3spd "base model" manual tranny. I believe in 1969-1971 Sweptlines, the A230 3spd with the 23 spline input shaft was the "base model" manual tranny. John Ya, sorry not NP on the 745, A. The A230 wasn't available unti...

Re: Is this a NP445 truck?

img_0269 (3).jpg My 70 has the 318/NP445/4.10 and has the factory LU 2 winch. No mention of the winch on the data plate. The SERT is for the bucket seats. John, most SERT's are for Special Ordered Equipment. A winch would have been a standard option for your truck, being it's a W200. As the bucket ...

Re: Camshafts and Lifters

I agree with the need for break in fluids. I installed a new cam in my Tahoe. No problems. Even after 6 years. Yes it was a roller cam. A friend put a new cam in his 396 broke it in with break in oil and soon realized that either it was soft metal or he didn’t do the break in properly. I wasn’t the...

Re: Camshafts and Lifters

I believe flat tappet cams are sort of like drum brakes. Still around but are not evolving, no research/developments nor improvements. The choices/grinds aren't there like they were in days past. If I were building an engine today I doubt I would stick with flat tappet cam. I'm surprised the afterm...

Re: Is this a NP445 truck?

A lot of great information. Thank you all for the responses! Would be a great help if you could verify the ratio's in your tranny and if it is a NP435. I'm always and have been documenting all these unknown or unpublished SERT's for a few years now. Unfortunately there is very little documentation ...

Re: Is this a NP445 truck?

W100 and W200 only. As his truck is a W100.
1968 was totally different for options, my post is for 1969 only W100's and W200's.

Camshafts and Lifters

Been hearing a lot of rumors flying around the internet, social media, etc. about lifters and or cam's being less than standard in quality, also a shortage. Wondering if anyone has recently purchased and broke-in a cam? I do understand the issues with low zinc oils out there now...so I don't believe...

Re: Is this a NP445 truck?

My SERT's don't show it either. NP445D wasn't available in 1969, 1970 was the first year for the NP445D. A745 was the standard (non-optional) transmission for 1969. The NP435 wide ratio was not a standard option in 1969, only the NP435D Close ratio was a standard option for the W100 & 200. My best g...
