I've been thinking a 383-4spd with my aux O/D trans might be the best compromise between power and mpg...how's yours?
I wish I'd made the Fall Fling...

He started at 2k and came down to 1500 after I kinda befriended him.
I'm still tempted but I need to stay focused on my short wide.

Re: 440 rebuild
It did occur to me that although I don't have automotive machine shop eqpt here, I do have mills, so I could mill the heads and shim the rocker shafts back up, get a little compression for free and a cam to match instead of being stuck with low compression low rpm tq only

Re: 440 rebuild
Looks like cam might not be stock smogger '77 cam. It occurred to me (DUH!) that I should stop and carefully go through all the parts I have here and see what's what. With the double roller chain, .020" under crank, and the engine having been wedged in a Mustang, it figures it may have been hot-rodd...

Re: Parking lights wont shut off
I'd carefully inspect all wires coming through the bulkhead connectors in the firewall. When the power wires from Batt to Alt start to fry from age and corrosion at the firewall and Ammeter gauge, they start melting into other wires.

Re: Swepty on dry lakebed
I'm thinking I might move the muffler to the very tail end of the truck, no tailpipe to hopefully make it louder outside and get the sound out from under the truck, and if that doesn't work, try this - very interesting http://truestreetcars.com/forums/general-automotive/25747-all-you-mustang-guys-ex...

Re: '68 318 BBD - holes in throttle blades?
I think something along those lines was done, and maybe I need to plug or maybe make smaller holes judging by the idle speed and mixture screw settings being backed way out. I did read that the slant six carbs do not have holes and sometimes the V8s do and sometimes don't.

'68 318 BBD - holes in throttle blades?
This 318 ran on propane, and I discovered someone had drilled some holes in the throttle body for who knows what. I got those plugged but I'm wondering about the holes in the throttle blades. A parts carb I have had the holes plugged. In order to get the idle low enough to be in spec, I have the idl...

Re: 1964 w200 leaf to coil springs
My big bad 95 2500 cummins on 39" tires had a 79 Ford leaf spring front axle and 63" Chevy rear leaf springs. Worked awesome and waaaay simpler than links and coils.

What is the intended use of the truck?
Tire size?
Drivetrain?

Re: 1964 w200 leaf to coil springs
Well, 94 and up went links and coils and boxed...I read the OP and he's saying 92-93 so I dunno exactly what he has in mind. At any rate, every 4x4 I've had that has gotten 'wheeled has had frame breakage, the bigger and heavier, the worse it gets. Old trucks with stiff suspension are bad about it, ...
