Re: Parasitic Draw
Not sure what exact setup you have, I believe your truck originally had a points ignition & now has electronic. Anyways on most Mopar ignitions of that era the coil is supposed to get 12v during cranking then only about half that when running. Too much voltage & yes the coil will burn up. But I am n...

Re: In dash shifter issues
That is likely something that will have to be fabricated. Not sure who does that kind of thing, but cables are still used in gear shifter & parking brake applications.
Since you still have yours at least it can be used as a pattern for a new one.

Re: A100 kick down rod modification
I can't remember the specifics but I know you don't want the transmission lever to bottom at before the carb reaches WOT. This prevents the carb from reaching WOT. I think theoretically they should but bottom out at the same time. Not sure if leaving a smidgen of clearance in the trans lever hurts a...

Re: 318 kickdown linkage
So I'll need to make an arm to move my accelerator above the throttle pivot and add a stud to put my kickdown below the pivot. Did that sound about right? The kickdown linkage needs to move forward as the accelerator linkage moves back? I can't say for certain on yours but on all the Mopar automati...

And probably from a 400 engine. Last year for the 383 was 1971. I don't think the smog stupidity had gotten that bad yet.

Just from what I can gather reading the 331 blocks had the upper portion of the bellhousing cast as part of the block.

Excellent!
It always feels good to get something corrected. Hopefully nothing new will pop up.

Re: 392 Hemi into w100 powerwagon
If a Hemi was offered in a Dodge truck it might be one of the Dodge versions like the 325 mentioned, or the Chrysler 354 which is shown to be in some heavy duty trucks & C series pick-ups.
Chrysler were 331,354,392
Dodge were 241,270,315,325
DeSoto were 276,291,330,341,345

Re: 392 Hemi into w100 powerwagon
I was assuming the 1950's 392 Hemi.
I don't know squat about any Mopar gasoline engines made after the discontinuance of the 5.2/5.9 Magnums about 20 years ago.
Then again I no very little about those from the 50's

Seems like someone had put a 392 in either a D500 or W500. It was nicely done IIRC.

I think motor homes & maybe D300 crew cabs had them.PwrWgnDrvr wrote: ↑Thu Mar 09, 2023 6:08 pmYes, D's have a long 727. Have parted several of those!
A shorty big block 727 would probably be hell to find.

Ram assist or P/S box, no matter which, a non-functional one takes a lot more effort than a manual box.

Re: 1971 D200 Conversion W200
The 727 automatic was supposedly available from 1970-onward, at least in 100/200 series.
I think it was the shorty 727. I believe the D series may have used the longer 727. I overlooked that fact in my first post.

Re: 1971 D200 Conversion W200
What you need is a 69-71 W200 donor truck to get yours as close to a "bolt-in" set-up as possible. It would have everything needed. But then you may not know its condition. Or you could get multiple pieces from various trucks. To keep your engine/transmission you can get a divorced NP205 transfer ca...

Re: Front drive shaft yoke wiggles
Any source of vibration, be it an out of balance issue or alignment problem, has the potential to eventually damage a bearing.
I cracked/broke a few 727 tailshaft housings due to having the wrong harmonic balancer on a big block that vibrated noticeably at certain RPM's.

Could it be a light that should be plugged into the back of the instrument cluster but isn't? Like the oil light.

Re: Speedometer needle is erratic
Could be. The "sweep" speedometer panels used in Dodge trucks/cars looked identical to what some other manufacturers had back then. I didn't mean the other gauges (oil, fuel, temp) were always wrong or inaccurate, but given their markings they just were not precise. Exactly what does Cold, Normal, H...
