Re: Scarebird Install Tech/Advice
I had read the information before installing them on my D200 and there were issues with them from all different sources. I test fit mine and had to make the modification too. I had contacted Scarebird and they recommended grinding down the edges on the pads just as you did. Of course they recommende...

Re: Electric fan wiring
If you have never done it before I would suggest going with a installation kit that has the temp sensors or probes. You can get some pretty economical kits from Summit or Jegs. You can find kits from $40 to $300 dependent on your budget and what you want from the fan. If you are pretty good with ele...

Re: Hood Hinge mechanism
I have seen some threads out there on the internet about people rebuilding their hood hinges in Chevys and Fords but, none for Dodges so far. In those people have done lots of different things but it seems like in the more professional rebuilds they remove the old pins by drilling them out then dete...

Seems like the only company making windshields for our trucks is PPG now PGW. http://www.windshieldstogo.com/ You can get them for cheap. In my area only !136 but that is not installed and you have to be near a pickup location. I'm pretty sure that is the same one your local installer is getting sin...

Re: My Rare 1964 D100
You could order what ever color you wanted on our trucks. In 1965 Light Turquoise was not a stock color for trucks or cars, mine was special ordered with DT8243 which is a 1964 Dodge car and Valiant color or Aqua on some models. I have even found the 8243 on the firewall when I stripped it and insid...

Re: One wire alternator
I kept mine Mopar and got a high amp 146 alternator from a Durango for $25 at the u-pull yard. Works well and mounting it was pretty easy with a Mr Gasket mounting/adjuster arm. I did upgrade the hot wires from the alternator to the battery and had already done a Voltmeter conversion. I also protect...

Well as it stands the cruise is still on. There is a possibility that the venue will change but we are a hearty bunch. Most of the state has not lasting effects of the flooding. There are a few areas that have been hit hard and my heart goes out to all those people in those areas. Again, most of the...

Re: Rack & Pinion - Who's actually done it?
I'm actually using a Dodge 5 3/4 pitman arm with no issues on a drop axle...takes care of bumpsteer and feels real solid. The cost of the Toyota boxes seems to be a little high, then once you add in the pitman arm drop more $$$. Still not a direct bolt on is it?

Re: Rack & Pinion - Who's actually done it?
I have done a little web crawling and research on doing a rack and pinion too. It seems a common practice to mount the rack right to the straight axle. I would rather mount it to the frame but that's just me. I have read however that a common failure in rack and pinions mounted to the axle is the te...

Re: 318 Poly to ???
Guys, Thanks for all the excellent information, this is all news to me. My plan was to go with another intake manifold, new 4bbl carb and valve covers. With this I would also probably replace the water and fuel pump. With all the different designs of the carbs, (push/pull, vacuum and all that) what...

Re: Pulling springs and bump-steer.
At 5-3/4 dose the threaded end of the tie rod not hit the frame ? Mine did at 6" Did a full lock to lock under normal load and all seems good. I will have to check after I get more miles on it and see. Hmmm? Where does the tie rod end hit the frame? Did you flip your front? Mine doesn't even appear...

Re: Pulling springs and bump-steer.
The bumpsteer fix is easy. If you drop it 3+ inches you will most likely have it but just by getting a shorter pitman arm makes the problem go away. I went with a 5 3/4" pitman arm on a 7" drop and all is good! I have a 6 1/4" arm left over is anyone else needs to fix their problem.

Re: Lowering the rear w/ overload springs?
Taking the overload wont lower the truck. What you need to do is mount springs under the axle remove the over loads then buy a set of spring perchs or cut the original ones off useing a cut off wheel then weld them back on under the axle. This will give you about a 4 inch drop plus still be able to l...

I went the less expensive route and got my master and booster from the u-pull yard. While I got that I also grabbed the proportioning valve from the same disk/drum truck and plumbed it according to what they had done on that truck. The 2 front outlets of the proportioning valve go to the front brake...

Re: Pulling springs and bump-steer.
From what I have been reading and discovering about "bumpsteer" is that if you modify a vehicle and wack out the geometry of the steering and suspension you will generate "bumpsteer". Allot of the people I have spoken to have said that the angle of the draglink is what matters. The draglink is the b...

I did mine body color light turquoise 1964. I also did the lower inner fenders that color as well even though they were supposed to be semi gloss black. Since my body was a light color I did black out the area behind the grill with semi gloss guess that's personal preference...My rig is a far cry fr...

Parking brake on the axle...May just consider an entire axle swap. Found a few from mid 80s 3/4-1 tons here.712edf wrote:Does your truck have the parking brakes on the axle?

Re: Lowering the rear w/ overload springs?
Looks like by just removing the helper springs you are going to drop it 2-3". They are pretty thick. You may want to get some new u-bolts...never a bad idea when messing with them.
