Re: Do I Need New Rear Springs?

Hmmmm.... have you considered Air Shocks? You'll only pump them up when you have a heavy load and how many times would you need that? But, new springs may be in order. Looks like it sits "normal" without any load. Also... I don't know what new springs or having the old ones re-arced costs. Depends o...

OK, so my tires are P235/70R15 Tires NOT 75's. I'm not sure what the difference would be. But... here ya go.

Re: Rubber floor

I used new jute under my rubber floor mat. My mat was a repro job I had bought YEARS AGO. I get in and out of my trucks with wet boots and clothes all winter long. Is there such a thing as a soud deadening under-mat that doesn't absorb water? Yep... Dyanmat is waterproof, but I've never used that. ...

Is there room to fit jute or sound deadener before laying down the new rubber floor?

Re: paint gun

DeVilbiss always made a good gun, but to be honest, I've been "out of that work" for so long, it's really hard for me to say. Other than that TPTools system I bought. Anyway, GOOD LUCK with your truck! :salut AND other projects down the road. It seems they always keep coming.

Re: paint gun

I'm as old as Jims68 and still have a couple of Binks Model 7s hanging on hooks. I didn't have a dedicated paint booth in my shop and painting anything of size just makes far too much mess in the shop, so I've been hiring it out. For what I have been spraying, I've been utilizing a "turbine" system...

Re: paint gun

Maybe talk with a local body shop? :thinking :2cents John Bodyshops don't use cheap "er" guns. YEARS ago, I would say bet the BINKS #7 spray gun... but that gun is a dinosaur now. We used that gun for Synthetic Enamels, and other paints like Imron too. If it were me , I'd just buy a HF job Gr...

Re: Rubber floor

From what I've seen, the rubber mats are not being reproduced anymore. Also, from past posts guys seem to be going with the carpets from ACC. https://www.stockinteriors.com/AutoCarpet.asp?Itemid=689&ModelId=160 I cannot say anything about these... I had bought my rubber mat (which doesn't fit that g...

I ordered a coil "specific" for my Kohler engine.
Thanks... I will see about a "specific" Kohler coil from the small engine shop I deal with.
I should mention that my JD is a points/condenser engine and NOT a Magneto.

Re: COIL & External Condenser?

Thanks Jims68 ... My old John Deere 112 quits when hot also... so I will try a new coil... in the spring... it doesn't get too hot throwing snow... -23 C this morning. I ordered a coil "specific" for my Kohler engine. I'm not sure what difference it makes with different 12V coils, but mine is for t...

Re: COIL & External Condenser?

I've had a couple of coils fail due to leaking oil. One on my JD140 Garden Tractor it would cause the tractor to misfire and quit running after it got hot. My 68 Dodge had a erratic misfire and was acting like points or condenser so I got new of both of those. So... I put on new wires because I saw ...

Re: COIL & External Condenser?

Nevermind! After MORE research, I found that that IS a radio suppressor on the coil and not a condenser. From the Standard products website: Standard ® T-Series is a competitively priced line containing some of the most popular part numbers to help you meet your market needs. The Standard® T-Series ...

COIL & External Condenser?

So my coil is starting to burn out on my 1968 D-100 318LA and I was going to get a replacement coil. There is a questionable external condenser that attaches to the coil + side (wire is all stiff and cracking). Does anyone have a part number for that? I can't seem to find it online. I always thought...

Lt Green Poly? That means the color has a bit of "flake" in it which is the "Metallic" color. If the description does NOT say Poly then the color is solid and has no Metallic in it. Here is a color chart for the 1970 truck. The Chev. section that was above the Dodge, I cut off for here to make the D...

Re: Carter BB Accelerator pump question

I just don't see the point in bothering with something semi-complex (rebuilding a Carter BBD for the 100th time. Its 47 years old) when something simpler (bolting on a new Holley) will do. I UNDERSTAND how a Carter works, I'm just too old & busy to jack with it again. It actually is running fine fo...

Re: Carter BB Accelerator pump question

This thread just furthers my desire to ditch my Carter & switch to the simpler brand. Bucky Awww... don't do that. It's an easy carb to work on and it really RUNS good too on my 318. You just need to understand it . Same with (opening a can of worms here) a distributor with points work GREAT....
