Re: What kind of spark plugs should I buy
Stock engine, stock plugs. Platinums should only be used in high output capacitive discharge ignitions, like MSD. The higher voltage of these ignitions can eat up copper plugs. Platinum is much tougher, but also less conductive. Platinums and most of the novelty plugs can actually hurt performance i...

An unreliable Mopar V8?? Only if it was damaged or abused.
As for the transmission. Look at the JW Ultrabell. I believe they have adapters
to fit 727s behind bow ties. The bell has to be cut off and replaced.

Re: Dodge Trucks in the movies and TVs
Yip I just saw that one the other night also. V is one of my favorite old series! It is a 69, the grill is gone, but the turn signals are still in place. Oddly, my wife picked up on the crew in Overboard and Christmas Vacation being the same, before I did. Of course she watches both of those movies ...

Good deal! He stopped by here last year on one of his adventures.
I saw his map, looks like he might be back through on the way home.
Hopefully he will give me a call again. I will actually have the crew home now!

Re: just started my own company
Small Biz laws vary widely state to state. Being a sole proprietor is a good move. I am self employed and part of that is working with a good friend in a company we founded together. However we are both sole proprietors of our individual companies and when we work together I contract to him (even th...

Re: MY CREW CAB- I need a measurement to use a short bed??
Considering the profile changes in the frame, the spring hangers, shock mounts, and bed mount
points, it probably would make more sense to just splice in the short bed rear frame.
Was the original frame cut and stretched, or scabbed on the back?

The newer Ram buckets are going for about $250 a set with minor wear in cloth around here.
Vinyl is $75 - $100. I really like the vinyl, but I need front and back for the crew, and have yet to see a newer quad cab with vinyl.

Re: electrical or mechanical water temp gauge?
My experience has been that most of the cheap mechanicals are still fairly decent (accurate). However the cheap electrics can be flakey. The good electrics (Stewart, Autometer) have proven to be very accurate for me. I prefer electrics because they are easier and cleaner to install. No pinched tubes...

That is an 82 I believe. 79-85 4x4 is the same though.
I believe it was 86 when they went to the independent front suspension on the 4x4 and the box changed.

Re: what spark plug wires should i buy?
I like Taylor on my big blocks. I crimp my own, but haven't had any problems.
I like BWD on my small blocks, the lifetime warranty is a bonus. Check them every
couple years with an ohm meter also.
I usually stick with a straight boot.

Re: Suggestion (Non-controversial)
I would not suggest sticking the threads. Consider what things would look like with 20 stickied build threads that have to be scanned down to get to the new content. Then the added maintenance of sticking them and deciding when to unstick them. My crew thread is a decent example. Not to brag, but to...

Re: side vent window weather stripping
You are talking about the piece that backs up to the window track I believe?
Restoration Specialties has it. As I recall it installs funky. Seems like it is
riveted on to the frame. Pull the U shaped channel strip off the other side and
you should be able to see how it is mounted.

Re: brake booster
You can use just about anything from the mid 70's on up to 94. Make sure the bolt pattern matches your master. The width increased at some point, and you will need the larger one if you are using the aluminum master. You will have to drill your firewall, the later boosters use a larger pattern. I di...

This is the route I was going to go, till I got the OD hair up my.... First time I drove my W200 with the NP 435, I knew it was a goner! Still have the short 727 out in the garage. I just went out and measured the shorty and got 26"-27" from the bell to the center of the yoke. Kind of hard to get ac...

Re: changing the oil in 8 3/4 rear end
It should be noted that on a 4x4 that gets in water, the fluid should be changed much more often.
Hence the drain plugs.
