Re: Difference between early NP435's?
You know a John, I couldn't find an I'd plaque so it very well could be. What are the details on those?

Difference between early New Process trans?
I found an NP 435 (now corrected to an NP420) with a trans brake. So far it seems that the body of the trans is about 3/4" shorter as well as the tower being cast. The drain plug on the 63 trans is in the rear but wondering how different they were otherwise. I'd have to do some adapting to my 68 but...

Re: 1968 NP435 - gear chatter on deceleration
Thanks all!
I'm part way in the diagnosis/yanking - It's close to the input shaft collar; clutch depress & noise slows down and disappears tells me that it has to be around that front bearing/shaft.
I'll keep everyone posted - Happy New Year!

Re: Clutch Size 69 D100 318 NP435
I'll post the number of the McLeod I am running in my 68 (different disc/spline count)
Be sure that you account for the larger input shaft. I had to mark and cut mine back as it came for an A833 (an oversight on my part)

Re: 1968 NP435 - gear chatter on deceleration
That's the plan Terry (taking it back to the shop) - I've been procrastinating........ ugh.
It's not incredibly difficult to pull; it's the time it takes for all of the little things leading up to it that drains my time..

1968 NP435 - gear chatter on deceleration
I don't know when my driveline troubles will be over.... :banghead I have about 500 or so miles on a freshly rebuilt NP435 (original to truck) from a reputable local shop. As I pulled out of the driveway, I heard a bang and instantly noticed that when I let off the throttle, I hear chatter. I had it...

They are made for smallblock bell housings but not sure of the differences. I love the one in my 68/318.

Great pictures!
Did you do the swap? I like the sound of a modern chassis, etc - how does it look inside and under the hood?

Re: Where Do I DRaw the Line??
I've only seen body color below the glass originally.
I thought about using something like this textured paint if I can find the right "gloss" or lack thereof.

Re: Buddy buclets
In my opinion, Sweptline era bucket seats are nearly impossible to find. I think between salvage yards & forums, I have about $350 or so in my seats. I recovered the buddy seat but was lucky to find good used seats to make a nice set. I sold the excess parts.
