Re: Champion vs. U.S. Radiators

That's pretty much the type of aluminum radiator experiences I've seen - it works or it doesn't, it is the best radiator or it leaks like crazy... I don't doubt that the ones that work are really great, but it is really disappointing that most of the manufacturers out there have such a varying quali...

Re: Ghost in the machine?

On my Scamp project, the only way I was able to get rid of gremlins like this was to pull every electrical connection including grounds, and after cleaning add dielectric grease. My other lesson learned was to avoid the repop turn signal switches and buy NOS or if not available good (and tested) used.

Re: Champion vs. U.S. Radiators

Apologies for the new thread. I had meant to add this post to the previous thread but for some reason I had two windows opened and posted from the wrong window. In any event, thank you all for your thoughts. FWIW, Wizard Cooling lists the following dimensions (including brackets) listed as: 61-64: 3...

Re: Champion vs. U.S. Radiators

I read the 'Sweaptline Radiators from Champion' thread http://www.sweptline.org/forums/viewtopic.php?f=5&t=39846 and started researching radiators - assuming that I'll need to put in a more efficient radiator to deal with Texas heat. It seems like everyone here likes them - but I read concerns in th...

Re: Wheel hop.

The Hellwig traction spring (#2002) may be an option. It works with 2.5" or narrower standard height springs. http://www.jegs.com/i/Hellwig/207/2002/10002/-1

I haven't yet found anyone that sells an 'opposing spring' solution like the original traction device.

Re: Wheel hop.

Pinion snubber feedback: http://www.sweptline.org/forums/viewtopic.php?f=20&t=7664 Sounds like the torque bar and snubber would control most of it. I was watching the Stacey David video on the cherry bomb and even with the 'fancy' 4-link it has wheel hop. https://youtu.be/vS_5xwt1_io So my take-away...

Re: Wheel hop.

I've been researching this for a couple of weeks. This is a good article explaining wheel hop and axle wrap, comparing the different methods of controlling axle wrap. http://www.4x4wire.com/jeep/tech/susp/axlewrap/ Caltracs have a good reputation https://www.calvertracing.com/caltracs.html but the a...

Utiline side spare wheel

I would like to mount a stock-looking wheel on a 64 utiline side mount. I remember? finding a post here with specs on the wheel. I'm assuming it was a 15x5 or narrower? Doesn't have to be original but would prefer era-correct. Maybe an earlier truck rim?

Re: 71 swap bar, fit a 64?

I'm interested in doing this as well. I may just look for a '70-71 to swap into (soon to be) my '64.

Re: Intro and interested in a truck in Phoenix

As it turns out, more rust than I assumed for a Phoenix truck. So have to pass on the nice one I found. There is a '65 (early) here in Austin that I am going to look at over the weekend.

Intro

Hello, Conrad in Austin - I am hoping to become a fellow Sweptline owner. I recently sold my '74 Scamp 318 project (a sad day, originally my son's project which became mine) and am wanting a Sweptline short bed (like everyone and their dog). I am challenged by 'finding the right one' - as I'm more o...
