Re: 1970 Dodge D500 powerwagon

$2000 was a very good deal. It won't take much to get it completely ship shape mechanically.

Swapping to a modern 8 lug front disc equipped axle would be a breeze, but many claim that the pinion angles of those axles won't work with the divorced NP205 transfer case.

Re: 1970 Dodge D500 powerwagon

Look over on the power wagon websites, some have classified ads, both current & past sales. It'll give you a general idea of what they have bring in the past & what people are asking today. My ball park guess is if you get it to run & drive then maybe $7000. I have seen them in pristine shape listed...

Re: 1970 Dodge D500 powerwagon

That is NOT a D nor W500. They are considerably bigger.

That is a W300 1 ton 4x4. Luckily a W300 is probably worth more money, simply because W500s are too big to be really sought after.

The winch & dump add value. Nice find!

Re: Horn Wire - Black Wire in Column

I don't recall how it is all hooked up, but you are correct in that the horn blows when the ground circuit is completed by depressing the horn ring/button.

Re: What do you do with your sweptline today?

That truck sounds awesome. How often do you drive it? What site do we find it on? I used to drive it every week. Then I got married, bought a house/pool/etc & all the entanglements involved (mortgage, chores) & the driving dropped to every few weeks, then mainly during our rare snow events or just ...

Re: What do you do with your sweptline today?

W 600? We really need to see pictures of this truck. It doesn’t get much better!! There's a whole thread about it over on one of the power wagon sites. I would post pictures here except I am now using my wife's laptop which doesn't have any. They are all located on my laptop which no longer works. ...

Re: Factory small block spread bore manifold

Isn't the Carter AFB a square bore? 1985 was when the Q-jet appeared on 360's in D/W350 & possibly others. I can't say if they appeared earlier on cars. Yes anything after 1970-72 is emissions/smog stuff. Those who claim the switch to 4v making the 318 a dog base this on the manifold ports not match...

Re: Factory small block spread bore manifold

There are those who swear that switching to a 4 barrel on a 318 (without other engine mods) turns it into a dog. I can't say. I do think the spread bore manifold would likely be 1971 or newer. Carter Thermoquad would be the most period correct carb to use. Not saying its the best, just what Mopar ge...

Re: 11" Clutch Special Borg and Beck Pressure Plate?

Mine was for a medium duty truck clutch disc which is slightly larger (and rarer) than the one you are seeking.

Seems like it was about $200. I may still have the ticket somewhere.

This was about 2018, before covid goofed up the world's economy.

Re: 11" Clutch Special Borg and Beck Pressure Plate?

I would contact these people here. They have been referenced on this website & throughout the truck community. I used them for my W600 NP540 clutch. They seem to know these old trucks. Check out their website then give them a call.

Re: New to me 1970 W200

My W600 with Rockwell axles even has the LH studs on the left side of the vehicle. I have no desire to change them. The only issues they ever present on any vehicle is tire shop employees are clueless about their existence & will screw them up with those impacts.

Re: 1970 Ignition Location

Moved to the column for 1972-later light duty trucks. It stayed in the dash on the medium duty trucks through 1977.

I think the Dodge Tradesman B series van kept the ignition in the dash for a while too.

The 67-71 version also was continued on through the 72-73 500-800 series medium duty trucks, as those still had Sweptline cabs.

Re: Changing the front end.

If it's a 1964 S600 school bus with V8 then most likely it's a POLY 318 or 361 big block.

383 nor 426 weren't put into medium duty trucks to my knowledge. 413 could have been an option but usually they went into the D800 trucks. 400 didn't exist until 1972.

Re: 318LA rear sump Dipstick

On certain big block truck engines the dipstick tube came off the side of the oil pan, via a 90 degree fitting.
Maybe your 318 needs a similar set-up.

Re: 3 on the tree problems

Before considering a new steering column (which may not even be available) I would look into getting just the bushings. And don't limit your search or inquiries to just trucks & truck sites. I suspect that 3 speed equipped passenger cars likely used the same or very similar bushings. 3 on the tree s...
