Need Longer Wheel Studs!!

Have a '66 Townie and I needed disc brakes. Scored a matched set of axles and other parts off an '81 W150 so decided I might as well convert to a 4x4 and get the discs I needed! Well, I Got everything ready to go and noticed that the wheels that came with the axles were never on that particular truc...

Turn off FOX news folks. Yes it's bad, in certain areas, but CO is a big state and the Denver Metro is a big area!

Agreed. I keep looking but they're either too expensive, too beat, or too far away! I need to exercise patience!

Re: Chevy Dana 44's

So I don't get slammed by the Mopar purists, heres a set off a W200: http://cosprings.craigslist.org/pts/4002371181.html What do I need to know, especially with regard to front axle set up and transfer case? I have a d100 with a poly 318 and currently 2wd. I've traded messages with 66patrick, but tr...

Chevy Dana 44's

Does anyone know if the 70's Chevy Dana 44's would work for a D100 4X4 conversion? There's a local guy selling both axles for cheap. Just wondering what issues might be had - spring perch measurements, etc. Any thoughts, advice, arguments (beyond the obvious Chebby parts in a Mopar!)??? Here's is ad...

Summit Racing Drum to Disc Conversion

Has anyone used one of these "complete" conversion kits:

http://www.summitracing.com/parts/SUM-BK1209/

Aside from the step price, it appears to be a direct fit kit. If anyone has any experience with this, please chime in. I'm looking at options for my '66 D100 Town Wagon.

Re: Front Axle Question - D100 4x4Conversion

Still deciding what to do and how to do it. The axle is there for the taking but I also found a '74 and a '76 W-series Pickup that I could score front and rear axles, trans, transfer case, etc. Both are cheaper than the single axle, but then I'd have to figure out what to the with the rest of the tr...

Re: 64 panel truck and pickup, are floors same?

I have a '66 Town Wagon and can take some pics/measurements for you. I know my floors aren't original, not sure if that matters to you or not. Let me know how I can help.

Re: Front Axle Question - D100 4x4Conversion

Thanks for your info and advice. I've actually been looking for a cheap vehicle to do the swap. Been looking for an old Ramcharger or W100/W200. There aren't too many around here. Did you have to modify the shock mounts on the vehicle, or only on the axle? My shock mounts are simply 2 pieces of thic...

Re: brake conversion

I'm pretty sure the Scarebird system works on the Town Panel. I have a Town Wagon and looked into this option before deciding to do a 4x4 conversion instead.

Re: w300 fenders on d100?

I have a set of W300 front fenders as well that I was going to cut and weld into the rear of my Town Wagon as the rear of the Townie is a bit rusted. I have to cut the rust out anyway and thought the extra flare would look amazing as well. That's a bit down the road. If you get to yours before I do,...

WD, thanks for the info. I ended up holding off on the axle for now. Wasn't going to install it right away and ended up re-prioritizing some of the other things that need to be done before I begin any of the major changes I have planned!

Not sure about the spring, but I know O'Reilly can get new wiper arms for our trucks for about $25. They mistakenly ordered a set for my truck. They were the exact ones that were on the truck, only brand new! Might be an option for ya!

Re: Front Axle Question - D100 4x4Conversion

I'm pretty sure the axle hub is an 8 bolt - at least what the owner stated. He's in AZ and isn't coming up this week as planned so I'll wait a bit. Probably a good thing! Need to do more research.

Success!! jgeebee63 passed on some valuable info and after a trip to the local parts store I was able to rent a slide hammer and hub puller to get the job done. Driver's side was worse off the the other. Glad I got into this project this deep as all of this would have probably caused more issues lat...

'66 D100 axle shaft removal

I've searched all of the threads but couldn't find the answer. I discovered that the rear axle gaskets/oil seals are shot when opening up the rear end to replace the brake shoes and hardware. The drums were packed with grease and oil!!! No wonder the parking brake didn't work! I got the passenger si...
