Re: Rear Drum Brake Parts Source

Thanks fellas. I found that Mancini carries the E-brake levers but for $49/set, I'll just clean mine up and re-use them. I did get link springs through Napa and while they're not the right part number for my truck, they fit and will work.

Re: air conditioning

Not related to my Utiline but years ago I bought another manufacturer's heater/defroster / A/C product and just got the smallest unit I could in terms of the unit that fits under the dash (this was for my 37' Dodge pickup). I bought a new Sanden air pump off of E-bay. If I were putting a unit in my ...

Re: paint color

It looks like "Lime Green Poly". Check here...... This is a site I've been using for years when you want to locate a specific color number or name:

Re: front end vibration

It does affect the drag link geometry but if not corrected, all that does is create bump steer. Vibration is not part of the geometry change. But you raise a good point in that the drag link was apparently replaced but still with the same pitman arm? I have the correct pitman arm that I used on my 6...

Re: front end vibration

It's not the axle. Check the condition of and or replace / rebuild:

- Steering Box
- Rag Joint / Steering Box Coupler
- Tires
- Shocks
- Caster Angle

Rear Drum Brake Parts Source

Hey Fellas: I'm rebuilding / restoring my 8-3/4" rear end and just finished with the 3rd member, axles and bearings and am just getting into the brakes. I found all of the traditional rebuild parts at a couple of auto parts stores. But, the emergency brake strut (sometimes called a "link") needs the...

Re: Brake adjuster problem

It would be helpful for the guys here to see a picture of your current dilemma. It sounds like the shoe may be flipped (upside) down but again, seeing what you're experiencing is a good place to start.

Understood. That is certainly a good discovery and ought to open up some options.

Re: 52 inch front springs

You would also need to verify the distances from the center of the spring set to the front and rear eyes to see where the rear springs are in comparison to the fronts. The mounting location is almost never in the center of the spring pack. Overall length is only part of the equation.

Re: Door Adjustment

I should have mentioned that the original owner that I bought my truck from had the door open WHILE backing up and then hit something with the door that jambed it forward into the hinge. That surely didn't help. As a result, I have an excess in the gap at the rear of the door and almost none at the ...

Door Adjustment

The driver's side door on my 64 series I has felt like it was dragging between the cab latch and the star wheel on the door. I sprayed the star wheel lightly with silicone lube and while the door now closes easily, the door doesn't stay latched (in the 2nd or fully closed of the 2 latch positions). ...

I had this firm rebuild one for my 273 15+ years ago. Good work and decent prices.

Re: Banging noises mystery

Without being there to hear it for ourselves, it is somewhat difficult to say for sure but noises like that are most often from the rear-end. Replacing the 3rd member is a simple and not time-consuming job. You could remove yours and have it rebuilt or find a good new or used replacement. Look at th...

Re: Accessory Gauges

Too bad a fuse tap wouldn't work as that would be a much "cleaner" solution. But that wouldn't allow the dimmer control to the lights in the new gauges.

Yes I know. The amount of draw was / is not my concern. I just don't like the fragility of small leads but I'll likely use it anyway.

Yep, I looked at the bulbs on the instrument panel yesterday but man those are small gage wires leading to the bulb sockets.

Accessory Gauges

I'm adding an accessory gauge cluster to my 65 Series I and all 3 gauges have back lighting. Where is the easiest or best location to tap into factory lighting to take advantage of the factory dimmer (without butchering the OEM wiring)?
