Re: Box floor bolts
Thanks guys, I plan on using button head stainless bolts, they're. 40 cents each and I don't want to get too many. I'm going to use plastic deck boards, there'll be no rot.

Re: rear drive ratio: what am i doing wrong?
With an open diff, if you lift one wheel, turn the pinion, count the revolutions it takes to turn the tire one revolution, then double the amount you turned the pinion, that is your ratio. The spiders double the amount one wheel turns.

Grind the rivets off, take it out, straighten it, bolt it back in. The bushing can be bought.

Re: Engine Intermittently shuts off
Msd blaster 2 is what I have on mine. Yes, tie the two wires that go to the ballast together. Or make a solid wire on the back of the ballast, then it looks stock, and no one will be the wiser. The ballast cuts the voltage to the coil back to 7-8 volts while running, the ignition gives the coil 12 v...

Re: Engine Intermittently shuts off
Check the pickup coil to reluctor clearance as well. Shaft bushings might be worn. Change the coil to a constant 12 volt unit and eliminate the ballast. Much hotter spark that way, and a better running engine.

Re: Wiring help
Personally, I wouldn't use star washers on ground connections. They do no seal and will allow moisture to get to the connection. We see a massive amount of ground issues on newer vehicles and the biggest issue is surface prep and cable end prep. We see grounds put over undercoating, rusty metal, cor...

Re: 3D printing tail lights lenes-question
The 3d print is a good idea, but when I need lenses, my plan is to cut the lense from 1/2" thick lexan, shape it, then buy a bunch of led's, drill holes in the lexan, put the leds in those holes. You could make any pattern that your heart desires. And use any color of lexan you chose. Just my .02.

Re: Holley sniper efi
I like what Edelbrock has done with the sequential port efi. Price isn't too bad considering that the small block kit comes with the intake and distributor. If i needed one, that would be my choice.

Stainless utiline steps
I had a very talented metal worker friend make me a set of utiline steps. Only issue is they are square, do you think they would look ok square? I have the machinery to round them, but right now they are real nice and I'm not sure I want to mess them up.

The post 68 trucks also have a different style of frame brace where the rear spring hanger is, it wraps around the inside of the frame. The supports he is after are made from angle iron(the one I have is anyways) , and not too hard to fabricate. I would recommend cutting what you need to out of the ...

Re: Engine stalls in gear
Ported vacuum port is almost always above the throttle plates. If you use a port in the bottom plate it is manifold vacuum. We see this issue lots on vintage cars of all makes. We see guys hook vacuum modulators to ported lines, and we have seen manifokd vacuum hooked to distributors lots of times. ...

Which ever way you go with the tank, put the fuel pump in it. I started out having an inline pump, if it sat for any length of time, it was a problem to get it running. Now with it in the tank, never any issues.

Re: Holley sniper efi
As long as you aren't burning oil, efi should work fine. I know a hot rod shop that installs lots of efi setups, they claim the biggest mistake people make is overestimating what their engine is. If you get the base setup wrong, they never run right. I have an archaic holley projection, and other th...

Yes, wouldn't do it again. Put a newer front end or a different front end under it. The later frames are the wrong shape.

Re: Ready to cut the frame
I felt exactly as you do. I build transmissions every day with little thought of how many pieces there are in some oc these units. But cutting and sectioning a frame, with 3 pieces made me nervous. Comfort zone, i guess.
