Re: 69 D100 with automatic: shift lever moves with wheel

Sounds like the lower end of the steering column (in the engine compartment) where the shift linkage attaches is in serious need of some lubrication, if it's moving with the steering shaft... The shifter linkage should be located right above the steering box inside the engine compartment. You should...

Re: Vehicles owned other than sweptline trucks

I've got the following in the driveway/garage right now: 2010 Toyota Tacoma (Aggie) as a so-called DD (I actually drive it less than the D100 during the summer, and less than the W150 during the winter) https://www.tacomaworld.com/media/20160812_082815.529962/full?d=1471008116 1984 Dodge W150 (The Y...

Re: Oil pressure gauge

I know that the sending unit is different between the light and the gauge, but I'm not sure about the wiring itself. I would assume it's different since the connections would be different between the back side of a gauge and the back side of a light bulb. :thinking

I believe that the Icon Power Wagons are built on a 90's Chassis. Not sure what kind of customizing they had to do to make it work, though.

Re: Won’t start , won’t crank

Check the connections on the starter. If they were doing exhaust work close to the engine it's possible they knocked/broke a connection to the starter.

Re: Off topic water harvesting project

Are you guys allowed to capture rainfall in AZ? I thought they had a bunch of restrictions on that sort of thing out in the dry states? I like your setup, though. I have a less-attractive version at my house for watering the gardens, but I was running on a minimalist budget  I got a pair of 275...

Re: 3 Speed clutch issue...

SOLVED. Thanks for all the suggestions guys. I used the back side of a hacksaw blade to slip in all the way to the center and all around. fired her up and she had one quick grind when dropping into gear and then was free. engages in all the gears without grinding and no sticking. On to the next pro...

Re: 3 Speed clutch issue...

If you're trying to avoid taking it apart, you can always try the old 'farm' approach. 1) Put the truck into 3rd gear (engine off) 2) Hook a tow strap to the frame and the other end to a buddy's truck. 3) Have them tow you, engine off, key off, in 3rd gear. Pump the clutch pedal repeatedly while thi...

Re: Rear axle swap?

Stepping up to a lower ratio for easier highway cruising will turn that Slant Six into a real dog everywhere else, though. The different ratio will mean you'll have to ride the clutch more whenever you accelerate from a standstill, and you'll lose power for hills, too. Do you have a tachometer wired...

Re: 66 D200 Tie Rod question

Very true, it is a Drag Link since it attaches only to the steering arm and not to an idler. But the function is the same, and annoyingly the terms are used interchangeably by parts manufacturers; Moog calls it a Drag Link; AC Delco calls it a Center Link. Was always a headache when I worked at a pa...

Re: 66 D200 Tie Rod question

The Tie Rods are not supposed to have a bend. The Center Link is. The Tie Rods are located closest to the spindles, are connected by an adjusting link and look like this: https://images-na.ssl-images-amazon.com/images/I/31SW8T2PAYL.jpg The Center link goes from the Pitman Arm to the spindle and look...

Re: Spacious and comfortable wheel wells.

That's quite a thick looking spring pack on the front end. :thinking John I was thinking about that thick spring pack yesterday while we were down at the coast (on narrow, winding, bumpy roads  ) How many leaves are typical for the front on the D100? My front pack has 7 leaves; the rear only h...

GF wants a Mustang, so we stopped at the stealership on our way down to the coast yesterday. Had to snap this photo, since the truck and I were 'Pilgrims in an unholy land" (bonus points if you guess where the quote's from)

The 8 foot bed on my '84 weighed in around 350lbs sans tailgate when I took it off last year. I'd imagine the Sweptline bed would weigh similarly.

Re: Spacious and comfortable wheel wells.

Of course, I ended up unscrewing the fitting anyway, because I got sick of turning that retaining nut 1/16th of a turn, then flipping the wrench, 1/16th of a turn...
So I just undid it and used a ratchet on the nut and then reinserted the fitting and tightened it down.

Sooooo smooth, and zero play/slop. The old ones were the stacked bushing setup and had probably 1/8 inch of up and down play, so I can't wait to see how much better she steers and tracks now. https://www.tacomaworld.com/media/20160630_154234.524359/full?d=1467318219 https://www.tacomaworld.com/media...

Re: Spacious and comfortable wheel wells.

I'm assuming the front hose is just finger tight at the frame..... as you'll need to attach it to the wheel cylinder first. :2cents :Thumbsup John Smart man. That is correct. Just tight enough to hold it in place, still plenty loose enough to spin while I twist the hoses onto those cylinders. :salut
