Re: Red buckets and carpeting on '64 D-100 CSS

That was the other truck on here, mine doesn't have AC yet :-) Now to remember which other truck that was... they all blur together at some point but I remember what you are talking about. (I have a set of 64 service manuals that covers AC and they include that unit.) BTW Terry, I scored an original...

Re: Push button stuck in "D"

Seems like something you could reach over the lip of the trans and try to move the linkage by hand. Although my setup is entirely different, I bet its binding inside the cable. I followed this for troubleshooting on mine: http://www.1962to1965mopar.ornocar.com/transtech.html

Great truck!!! Have to admit that I'm a bit jealous of your config - but I know (firsthand) that a lot of love, sweat, tears are needed to get it to where you want it. Best of luck with your project. :Thumbsup

Re: Uncle Jimmys IFS

The new version of Wheeler Dealers is running their A100 rebuild, complete with a bagged IFS install.

It's interesting that the A100 has a boxed frame. Lots of cutting and welding... No wonder I decided not to go that route even though ultimately the best ride.

Re: Disc Brakes here I come!

:clap :Thumbsup Man that was fast. I'm jealous. It was about a year to get to that point for me... But much of that time was working out the kinks on the booster/brake pedal mechanism. I'm still not happy with the length of the front caliper flexible line (too long). My calipers look totally differe...

I don`t if its too late to reply but here goes... I`ve found this helpful for various electrical issues. Disconnect the main harness at the firewall and clean all the connections.
And if able, after cleaning use a small amount of dielectric grease and you won't need to worry about it later...

I had Covercraft make a custom sized one for my 68 SWB
I guess that's the way to go - but I didn't want to pay $500 for a cover. A custom-fit Carhart cover would be nice though.

Covercraft fitted cover

Just wanted to post my feedback/findings on the Covercraft fitted cover that I bought. I was tired of my 'generic' cover flying away on me. In my area of Texas, we get the Southwest desert winds from Mexico - sometimes very gusty. i had resorted to using clips to hold it on, but that ended up just t...

Re: How many 1965 Short box manufactured

Also, you would have to figure out how many early'-65 vs. late-65. Of those that have survived... I'm sure its a low number. Here's my 'how many __ in the container' guess. Assume SWB = 6500. Assume 1965 was 1/3 early and 2/3 later = 1950 early SWB. Then let's assume 70% box vs. 30% utiline (I am ju...

Re: Disc Brakes here I come!

It really depends on how/where you drive. Drums were working 'ok' for me -except- being in Austin city traffic, people will pull in front of you and that 'oh chit' moment will convince you that you need to stop quicker. I ended up using a brake booster - master cylinder combo from Pirate Jacks in As...

...main goal was to drive down the interstate at 70mph... I'd strongly suggets to give it 8 degree shims between axle and Leaf springs that will give you 8° caster and a pleasant and straight drive! I've just pushed my 65 short bed with new king pins, W100 leaf springs up front, Scarebirds, CPP Pow...

Interesting, last time I looked Rancho didn't offer the RS9000XL series adjustable shocks for our trucks and now I see they do. I'd go with them but I can't offer a whole lot of experience using them. BTW, as noted on their site they do fit very tight on the mounting pins.

Re: Waking up the 1971 383 Engine

I agree there. If I were to go Edelbrock carb then I would do the Performer RPM. The Performer 440 was designed for the Thermoquad 850 I have so I went with that. I also have a low compression ratio 440 so changes wouldn't be that big for me.

Re: 360 Crate Magnum with 904 vs 440/727 OPINIONS NEEDED

Having driven a 318/904 combo (Scamp) vs. the 440/727 my truck has, it depends on how much you drive it and what you want when you drive it. The 'lazy' 440 sounds great but makes more noise than power (i.e. fun to drive). Feels like driving around with a paper weight out front vs. a slot car. I woul...

Re: Waking up the 1971 383 Engine

I agree with above - I'd start with cheapest and 'havta' first. You'll spend more money on this than you think. I have a (very) low compression 78 440. I needed to replace my coil and swapped in the Pertronix + OEM-style 'dual-spark' box + new plug wires. It ran smoother but can't say I got any perf...

Cool! I'm working on a 61 also. Currently swapping out the 318 poly to a la360.
I'd hang onto that Poly as prices go up, work on it bit by bit - and swap your 360 for a stroker dual-quad semi-semi, if only for bragging rights!
