All that is old will be new again
So this happened this weekend:
And then immediately afterwards I lost a retaining pin on the linkage for the transmission and was stuck in 3rd gear until I pulled over and band-aided a new one out of a paperclip. - Mon May 23, 2016 7:58 am

Re: My Carb is well worn - Best option to replace?
The manual choke Edelbrock performer 4bbl on mine works well. Not overly expensive, either.

Re: How did you come up with your screen name?
First name's Noel (pronounced like 'Knoll' 'Gnoll' or 'Mole'). Had a girl friend (not a girlfriend) in grade school who started calling me Noelie as a pet name and soon a lot of the other girls picked it up. By the time I graduated high school pretty much all of the girls called me Noelie. Things li...

Re: Photos of your truck being a truck
Light-duty truck stuff yesterday. Loaded the kayaks up and took them down to their summer home.
And then the GF got artsy and took a 'magic hour' shot with a real camera that isn't in a cell phone.

Re: 1989 Dodge D-100 Black Jack
Never heard of one either, and neither has el Google. :thinking I wouldn't be surprised if a former owner just had those logos added. A buddy of mine in high school had a "Harley Davidson Edition" Chevy Cheyenne and was pretty pissed when he found out that Chevy never made an HD Edition and that the...

Re: 6 pack or dual quads
A six pack or twin duals almost seems like overkill for a 318. I would think a good single 4bbl would produce similar power. Not as badass, though. :dance Pics if you do it! Here, let me nudge you along. http://www.ebay.com/itm/Edelbrock-P600-318-Poly-3x2-tripower-Dodge-Plymouth-Chrysler-Mopar-P-60...

Re: West Coast mirrors
Rats. That's what I was afraid of. I figured that at that price they were too good to be true, but was hoping that somebody on here liked them and they were one of those flukes. Anybody tried mounting them with rubber against the truck body to see if that makes any difference? Did they at least bolt...

Re: king pin ball bearing
I have my kingpin ball bearing kit in hand. the bearing does't seem to come apart, yet it is dry.... The inner edges seem to be curved, making it resist coming apart. Do they come apart to be lubricated????? if not, how do you grease them??? You should be able to pack grease into the bearing withou...

Potential Parts Truck
Got stuck in traffic behind an accident in downtown this weekend and turned down a side street to try and escape it. I've never been down this street before in my life, never had any need to. Just a residential side street full of older houses that have been converted to apartments. I'm putzing alon...

Re: Wintertime Blues
I'm not so worried about the snow; around here they salt the roads (and use calcium chloride, depending on the town), so the Swepty is staying in the garage until there's been a few heavy rain storms to wash them all off. It's not all bad; I drive this thing a lot during the winter: https://www.taco...

Wintertime Blues
God I miss driving my Swepty... Put it away for the winter because of all the road salt they drop around here, and I've still got my '84 plow rig when I feel the need to drive an antique, but it's not the same. I'm missing the rumble of the 318 through those dual pipes and hearing the carb suck air ...

Re: MPG's? (LOL)
Mine's getting great mileage lately. I probably won't have to tank it up again until April.
It went into winter storage a couple of weekends ago. So now I'm stuck driving the '84 and my Tacoma.

I've heard good things about Rust Bullet as well, from people that I know who've used it (they have a dealer right in Lewiston, which is close to where I live & work) But, I've always had really good luck with the Rustoleum products. I actually have the bed off of my '84 right now and painted it wit...

Re: Slant Six Oil Leak (unheard of, I know)
If you have spark plug seal tubes then your motor is not an 84 model. Those were only used prior to 75 which is also the crank switch. Therefore your balancer may not be correct. I'm not sure on these but on some motors your balancer and crank have to match with the balance of the flywheel/flex pla...

Re: MPG's? (LOL)
Shrug. My downfall is the number of stoplights I have to go through to get to work. I've got a dozen a day. Plus they're being done in 5PM traffic on my way home, so I end up hitting every single red light :banghead And I've only got about 10 miles on the back roads to try and gain some MPG's back....

Re: clutch pedal squeak
When I got mine the clutch pedal shaft was actually rubbing on the firewall. Not sure if it had gotten bent/warped over the years or if it was because the original transmission got swapped for an A833 and it misaligned the shaft, but it made a godawful squeaking/scraping sound every time I stepped o...
