Sorry, I screwed up on that one and corrected it, it is the Close Ratio.

VIN Information.
I compiled all the Info sheets from 61-71 with some extra information to help anyone understand the VIN system Dodge used on the trucks.

Re: Data Plate and Differentials
Update - Eric Bannerman was able to help me out. Eric has a wealth of of information on SERT numbers. Thank you Eric! Apparently my W100 was ordered with upgraded axels [SERT code (04542) is a the number for a heavy-duty non-standard axle]. Most likely a 3500lb front axle (Dana 44), 1 Ton U-joints ...

Re: 65 D100 wiper motor/switch wiring
On your switch: P=Park B=Battery/Accessory Power R=Run Your wiper motor should have Black and Blue wire, Black goes to "R" on your switch and Blue goes to "P" on the switch. You should have a Light Blue 14 AWG going to "B" on the switch. If it's an aftermarket or rebuilt motor, most likely the Green...

Also, the seats were A-Body Dodge dart seats and the console was a Polara. The horn rings for the white steering wheels, was also a Polara.

Re: Reinforcing Alt/Batt Bulkhead, Increase Ampacity, Retain Amp Meter
I didn't and I repeat "I didn't make any reference to the NEC as you may think". It was just an example, nothing more. I also stated in my last response I was thinking AC not DC when I made the reference to the amperage dividing equally on the conductors. Obviously, you didn't read my last post and ...

Re: Reinforcing Alt/Batt Bulkhead, Increase Ampacity, Retain Amp Meter
Mark, 2 smaller wires in parallel will be less total resistance, but 1 larger wire will also be less total resistance. So what's the problem? The "load" is what is connected to those feed wires and its resistance doesn't change. If you feed it with a zero ohm wire (theoretically), you will get all ...

Re: Reinforcing Alt/Batt Bulkhead, Increase Ampacity, Retain Amp Meter
Cab Wiring The factory alternator and battery feeds are #12 gauge wire. While this might support intermittent loads of 40+ amps, it would have significant voltage drop. So the wiring will require an ampacity increase, as well. I gave some thought to replacing the alternator and battery wiring with ...

Re: Reinforcing Alt/Batt Bulkhead, Increase Ampacity, Retain Amp Meter
Excellent solution to the factory limitations. :Thumbsup Sadly, this is only applicable to 69 and later trucks. Earlier trucks have a totally different, and rudimentary, system of connectors. :pale Also, it's less of a problem with the 61-68 trucks as the wiring is a heavier gauge. Even with the di...

Re: Instrument Cluster Voltage Limiter Replacement
I'd be very careful with that regulator. If the middle pin (ground) is lost the output voltage will reach the unregulated input. If the ground is reconnected with power going to the input, it will damage the regulator. This regulator needs a solid ground on that middle pin before powering it up. Whe...

Re: NP-540 trans
so my next question, is would i be able to use a np540 from a ford or GM truck? or would that not match my bellhousing? because i know new process was owned by chrysler so idk if they made one typa bellhousing bolt pattern or what. That wouldn't accomplish anything...Let me see if I'm reading this ...

Re: 1967 D100 318 Transmission Crossmember
That is strange. FYI, I also think the engine was swapped before. Maybe the engine and tranny were swapped as a set from something else? Jeff It wouldn’t have been a set with later model tranny and a hydro bell. Assuming the pilot shaft is actually reaching the pilot bushing you may be better off o...

Re: Is this a NP445 truck?
The case of a 445 is a inch longer,(12 7/8") than a 435. Mine and a few that I have seen a blue tag on the top right side. Says model 4530... So the 445 and the 4530 are "one and the same"? I am curious as I have a 4530(with SAE #4 clutch housing) that's been sitting in the garage for years now. Th...

Re: Rear drum replacement part#
If you can find a 80-93 truck rear axle with good backing plates, swap them out and get a set of 80-84 drums 11" x 2.5". They will have the 4.5" bolt pattern and will bolt right on your 8.75. Then you can buy brake parts at any auto store and not have to deal with the old stuff and have bigger brake...

Re: Is this a NP445 truck?
I think I may have solved the mystery on the 22360 SERT. Keep in mind this info is for W100 and W200's only. It appears in 1969 the wide ratio 435 was not a standard optional 4-speed. Even though it lists it in the Sales brochures for 69. The close ratio 435 was the standard optional 4-speed for W10...

Re: 1967 D100 318 Transmission Crossmember
Interesting. Yes, my bell housing is bolted down but I rebuilt the motor to 280HP and about the same torque so I fabricated a crossmember with the assumption it used to have one, and would need one. Maybe not? I was fishing to see how others were mounted so I could approximate the rubber dampers. J...

As far as I know they were not printed separately. The last printing of the 69-71 manual included it at the back. This appears to be it, based on the cover: http://www.autobooksbishko.com/Items/1969-1971%20Dodgetruck%20Shop%20Manual/689.html (my front cover is missing so can't confirm, but my bindi...

Re: Front end conversion - IFS, disk brakes, rack and pinion
I have no experience with this kit, so take this with a grain of salt. There are several issues with putting IFS on these trucks. The biggest issue is the frame width. The frame rails are very wide on these trucks, and its a stretch getting a cross member to fit. This will also cause the steering r...
