Re: 1965 D100 Panel Wagon 225 Slant Six Headers

I think most slant 6 headers would fit although a slight modification may be required in some cases. I also have a 65 (was a slant 6) and bought a pair of Hooker Super Comp long-tube headers for mine. As you mentioned, there is a lot of room available.

Re: CPP Steering Box Swap

Well fellas, the update is that my box has nothing as far as directional arrows indicating "Pressure-In" and Return". But CPP did correct themselves and confirmed the pressure port is the one closest to the inner fender (not what they said previously). Before I added the taller seats they sent I dec...

Re: Several cut factory wires under hood. Help I.D. trace repairs...

[ The problem is not the spade connector, it's the wire itself. You have a system capable of putting out 37-60 amps and Dodge only used a 12AWG wire for the ammeter that only has TW insulation good for 20 amps continuously. Those spade connectors are good for 30 amps continuous.........the system is...

Re: CPP Steering Box Swap

I have had a problem with not having stationary steering. However once I rebuilt one of the 4 rebuilt steering pumps, that problem is solved. This is part of the instructions for the 400 series, CP50006c that is installed on my 1970 d100. 18. Connect the power steering hoses. There are arrows cast ...

Re: CPP Steering Box Swap

Thanks JL. What I thought would be a simple unscrew of the old and thread-in of the new seat doesn't sound so easy. I'm not clear why your hex fitting being bottomed caused problem for removal. It seems like it would still just un-screw? Also, I noticed that Johnah mentioned his steering box with in...

Re: Absence of "Low End Grunt"

One check you might try is to set both the timing and the carburetor idle adjustment using a vacuum gage. This is very simple and accurate. It sounds like at a minimum, your initial timing is not where it needs to be.

Re: Absence of "Low End Grunt"

Did you change the timing AND carburetor jetting after doing the head work you mentioned? Both of those would have been impacted by the head work.

Re: CPP Steering Box Swap

Thanks for your feedback Jonah. That's very helpful. Interestingly I did not receive written instructions with my box or the hose kit. I did not see the arrows they referred to either but I guess that's because everything is black it kind of all washes together. With your feedback, I should be good ...

Re: CPP Steering Box Swap

Interesting johnah. The port you used is how I made my initial connection and then CPP said the pressure port is the one closest to the engine. So, you've routed the large diameter pressure line to the port on the inner fender side and the smaller return line from the port near the engine? No issues...

Re: CPP Steering Box Swap

Thanks Craig. I thought of some type of sealer too but it seems I must have a hose-end to steering box fitting problem where they are not mating up correctly to provide a seal. I'll be talking with CPP this morning for further clarification. Just to confirm with those of you who have used this box (...

Re: CPP Steering Box Swap

Thanks guys. I'm dealing only with the pieces that came with the CPP steering box (with the brass adapter fittings already installed) and their hose kit. So, theoretically, everything should bolt-up correctly. I found it especially strange that mine leaks before I've even fired the engine. I think I...

Re: under hood gizmo

Agreed guys. I just went out and looked at the piece in question which is what you both stated and not what I was thinking of from Jim's original question. I looked and do not see the hood travel limiter or "Stop" that I was referring to so am not sure when those were made mandatory. Jim, my apology...

CPP Steering Box Swap

Looking to hear from members who have adapted the CPP (Toyota) steering box and CPP related hose kit. I just completed the swap and when doing the (non-running) system bleed (wheels off the ground and turning lock-to lock 2 times), I have a leak at the high pressure side of the steering box (the por...

Re: under hood gizmo

I haven't analyzed the Sweptline-specific feature and was commenting on the generic use of hood hook points for the reason I mentioned. The Sweptline feature mentioned may have been before that design trend / safety mechanism was required.

That is meant to retain the hood in an accident so that it doesn't pop up and penetrate the windshield.

I went around the use of wood when replacing my bed mounts and used polyethylene. Any plastic supply shop has it as well as blocks of PVC, PC and ABS any of which work fine in this application.

Destroyed? How so? It was simply welded together. Besides, it wasn't a concours restoration. It was a street rod.

Re: Tips on shipping an NP435 trans

Yes John, it was pretty much an entire pickup (missing a few pieces) but of course being in-pieces made it easier. The 2 pallets I made were odd shaped and long and Fastenal said they didn't care about shape and size as long as the load could be picked up by a forklift from the side of the load. The...

Re: Tips on shipping an NP435 trans

You have to ship "From" and "To" Fastenal stores that have the ability handle palletized loads (if you're using a pallet). Not all of their stores have that ability. My last shipment was a 5-speed transmission from the Los Angeles area to my home in Oregon. That was roughly $70. The 1937 Dodge picku...
