Re: Edelbrock 60779 heads
Well... I bit the bullet an ordered them. Will update this when I know the final outcome. Working with a 340 V8 I found having my heads redone would cost somewhere between 7 and 8 hundred dollars. Indy heads were 995 a pair which I was going to do until Indy said they were out of stock, not the most...

Re: Ram exhaust headers
Don't know about "Ram headers" but Hedman 79010 should do the job. The starter is in the same location on the block side. These headers haven't changed in design since I was early teens. Full length, 1 5/8 tube, 3" collector. Roughly $260 painted and between $600 and $700 coated.

Edelbrock 60779 heads
Has anyone used the Edelbrock Performer RPM 60779 cylinder head on an LA engine build? What I'm curious about are the bracket mounting points, specifically the no air alternator bracket.

Re: replacing carb. 4160 or 4150; which way to go?
Holleys are much easier to tune and work in general, jets, power valves, float adjustments are quick and easy but Carters just seem to require much less maintenance in the drivability department.

Not to long ago I was speaking with a parts buyer for one of the major distributors and was told " all ignition and charging components are made in China shipped here and repackaged".

Re: 70 rear lighting
You probably have a ground problem. When my 71 tail lights went berserk it was because the ground straps between the bed and cab were gone. Battery to engine, engine to cab and cab to bed. Each taillight housing to the body through mounting screws. Worth checking anyway.

Re: Cool Hang-Ups
You have to allow enough space from the collector to the support to allow the system to flex. If the exhaust is mounted to the frame and the headers are mounted the engine every time the engine twist with a load the supports are placed in a bind. Yes if the hanger is mounted to the trans it will be ...

Re: 1970 decals
No one makes reproductions of the V.I.N. Decal. There are some companies that do make replacement decals for the V.I.N. that are very similar in appearance but not exact. I believe the emission decal is the same for the cars though I have never checked the part number.

Re: Where Do I DRaw the Line??
My 71 has the white top and its painted below the rear window and if it makes any difference if you move the rear window seal its body color underneath.
