Re: Speedo Pinion Gear
So I found all the missing parts ( shaft, pinion gear, seals and clip) and they arrived today. Will post results once I have them installed. Stock tire was about an inch taller than the 235/60/15's I'm running so I expect it will be a little off ( fast ) but close enough that I'm not going to sweat ...

Those don't look like the correct arms. Those look straight and mine have like a dogleg shape to them, not just bent.

Re: Push button stuck in "D"
When I work under the dash I've found taking 15-20 minutes to remove the bench seat really helps open up space and you
make up that lost time while working under the dash.

Re: Heater Box / Core
I don't know about your truck, but mine has two short hoses inside the heater box that almost never get replaced. Might I suggest silicone heater hose and all stainless clamps in that location? Yeah, pretty sure the hoses inside the box were original and they were hard as rocks. They actually crack...

Re: Heater interchangeability
There were leaves and trash in front of the core. Blowing it out yielded considerable dust. I'm wondering where the right place is to put a piece of 1/4" mesh stainless screen, both to preclude mice and to keep leaves from clogging drains. I'm thinking right under the grille on the cowling and behi...

Re: Return Spring for brake pedal
When I first bought my truck it had a spring but didn't want to come up, had to put my foot under it to
pull it. I pulled the long bolt that holds the pedal in place. Cleaned all the parts up, lubed them and then
reinstalled. It now pops right back into position.

Re: Heater Box / Core
I'd suggest getting a replacement from NAPA. Sometimes, when you get the original valve freed up, that's all it takes for them to start dripping. I know that from experience. :banghead I can't recall the part number of the valve I bought from NAPA.... its been years since I've had to do anything wi...

Re: Headlight Switch Female Plug
Thank goodness for the FSM, those schematics helped me clean up a lot of questionable work. Agree, it's been invaluable in helping me track down what to clean up and get things in working order. It seems I'm always going back to cleaning up grounds and presto, things work again. I fixed my steering...

Heater Box / Core
So I decided it was time to get the heater controls working. Heat is always on so why am I doing this in fall and not waiting for spring? yeah, I don't know either lol. Blower works fine so no issues there. I traced down the floor/defrost cable, simple enough, it was just disconnect and the PO had b...

Tried this and got the result you mention, goes between 13.5-14.3 when rev'd or held at 2500-3000 rpm.stumblinhorse wrote: ↑Wed Oct 03, 2018 9:37 pmPut a multimeter on your battery and see what it does when you rev it up. Re: What does a properly function amp gauge look like?
Pulsing between 15-25 while driving is not normal. I figured it wasn't normal from reading other threads about the amp gauge. I've never had a vehicle with an amp gauge before. I thought for sure it was the regulator but now that two mechanical and one electronic ( less so with the electronic but s...

Re: What does a properly function amp gauge look like?
Cleaned the connections at Alt and VR... no change. Battery is new and measures 12.8v on my meter. I took if for a drive and ran everything I have on, lights w/ high beams, blower on high. Meter dives to -25 at idle instead of just to the left of center. While driving about 35-40 meter goes up to ab...

Re: What does a properly function amp gauge look like?
Going to clean some ground connections first. In my service manual it list check/clean
all connections/grounds for both an over charging scenario and excessive ammeter fluctuation.
Retesting the alternator too while I'm at it.
