Well, I have a '67 and it is definitely a dummy light. I popped the instrument panel off and traced the wire where it comes out right where I was told it would be. pretty sure the noise suppressor connects to positive side of coil. ebay search for heat riser repair kit might find what you need. usually have to buy the kit. never seen just a spring
