No experience myself, but I'd bet that anyone who has done it hasn't regretted it.
X2, since you already have the brackets, you're half way there.

Re: Poly or Hemi? TAKE MY POLE....I mean....POLL!!!!
So many changes it isnt even close to factory original. 318 poly was common as dirt in the day and absolutely NO cool factor in my book. I know I sure as hell wasn't "cool' driving a 65 Fury with a poly in high school in 71! Anybody that was cool had muscle motors in their cars, not wimpy small blo...

Stick with the yellow/poly/axle and I might want to buy it from you when you're done!

Re: Poly or Hemi? TAKE MY POLE....I mean....POLL!!!!
To me the poly has more cool factor. Sounds like you are making a more period type truck, keeping the straight axle and original color. Keep an eye out for an Edelbrock P600 (one on ebay currently) and get some of the new Chrysler Power finned valve covers to dress it up. If I were going to do the 0...

Re: W200 disc brakes?
I'm VERY curious on the outcome of this. Even if it means finding/buying a complete new axle, I would love to have disc brakes on the front of my 63. Very few things of this nature are "bolt on". What axle(s) would I be looking for, and what would need to happen to make it fit? And what changes in ...

Re: W200 disc brakes?
I doubt that works with a closed knuckle. Side note, I know that guy that wrote that article and runs that site, good guy. :Thumbsup If it were me I'd be looking for an 80's axle with disc brakes to swap in. Easier to find parts for it. Patrick had a complete pair of IH axles for sale that would bas...

Looks a mess, but super cool. Central valley has been farm land for ever. I'd bet there are some sweet old farm trucks in there.

Looks like yellow.
or maybe tan.
Either way, too bad about the black spray bomb. Would be nice to see it more original. Cool truck though, 61 poly/auto shortbed big back window is pretty high on my desirability chart!

I've never seen a kit to lower a 4x4. Why would you want to do that?

You might try these, but an old fire truck is gonna be tough. Just not enough data out there like there is for collector cars.

This guy has the bed you need! Early bed on a later truck.
Good example of the wheelbase difference and why they don't interchange.

Besides the obvious fuses, I would be looking closely at fusible links (think they have these on a 70 sweptline). and the ballast resistor as my first stops.

Re: Need a bed for 63, what years are compatible?
Your images don't work. Allpar doesn't like hotlinks. Short beds should interchange, though there was a tailgate change from chains to straps. There are two different wheelbases for long beds. The wheel openings will be in very different places and will not interchange. Tail lights change on both be...

Re: JEEPS OR, How to spend a TON of money!
Our daughters first car was a new beetle. The only one we could find in our price range was a turbo stick shift with high miles (160ish?). Do NOT do that! She burned up the clutch, very expensive to replace. Turbo was too much power for a teenager. The non-turbo/automatic would be better, but that c...

Re: JEEPS OR, How to spend a TON of money!
Jeeps can be pricey, way more demand than there is for old Dodge pickups. I've mostly been into Toyota 4x4's for the last 10-years, but recently purchased my first Wrangler $18.5k http://i52.photobucket.com/albums/g26/earlkann/Jeep%20Rubicon/IMG_0500_zps5e151158.jpg http://i52.photobucket.com/albums...

I think that 66 should be sand dune white, later years are Dodge truck white. Do a search here for "paint codes" and you will find lots of information already posted.Redcalumet wrote:Does anyone have a code for the off white paint used on the outside rear view mirrors? Re: Cable shift mod?
I don't think there is anything that will easily convert your column shift to a cable. There are plenty of aftermarket shifters available that will eliminate the clunky linkage, but they are all going to be floor shifters. There were some one year only (65?) column shifted cable operated transmissio...
