Re: Hood hinge paint?

When did the core support get repainted with the black? That yellow sticker on the top did not come from the factory with black paint on it. I think those stickers may have been Black under the Yellow. They turn Black when the Yellow comes off. At first I thought the same but it looks more like it ...

Re: Hood hinge paint?

In Alan's pics, the hood had to be on, as well as the hinges, because the hood bolts are also painted. The lower splash shield are painted. If someone painted this stuff they did a damn good job of it, pulled the engine and all the electrical, brakes, even stuff under the dash as there is a bolt fr...

Re: Hood hinge paint?

In Alan's pic, all the bolts are painted too. Hinges as well as fenders to cab. That is not normal, nor is one painted spring and one unpainted. Are we to believe the truck is first assembled, with hood and fenders attached, THEN painted??? That is how the cars are painted. I don't get the one spri...

I guess I need to pull one of these to prove there is no reason a 80,000 mile truck with no other work has hinges that have been painted.

I am trying to complete the Scarebird conversion on my 62 dodge d100. Issue is the the rotor is a hair away from the Scarebird backing plate. I am certain it's going to touch?scrape the backing plate once the vehicle is in motion. Has anyone run into this issue and provide any HELP? Thanks, On my D...

Re: Daughters first driving class!!

Hey All, At 12 years old I figured it was time to let her behind the wheel. Now for the rest of her life she will say " I learned to drive in a 68' Dodge truck". If she can learn without power brakes, power streering and lots of noise she can drive anyting. I don't know how she did it but she stall...

You use the drum backing plate bolts. On the 8 lug two of the bolts needed to be machined per the instructions.

Re: another scarebird

Once you have the adapter plate bolted on you will slide the caliper on to the rotor in the space for it in the adapter. Then the two bolts are put in, the caliper slides on these bolts and is held in place by the bracket. It should be pretty obvious when you are in there. Look at the pictures that ...

I guess I was lucky and had the problem on installation. To me both The cost of having the rotor turned and the potential life taken away. My fix cost me nothing.

I'd say 1000 tops, in this area (western states) you can get clean original ones for 1500-2000
I got lucky and found mine a 1970 D-200 383 4-speed in very good original shape for only 1000, yea I had to drive 650 miles to get it but I could drive it home!

I thought about turning the rotors but why through away money.
I wasn't happy with the pedal feel at first either but it has come in on its own, don't even think about it now.

Re: '70 "Alternate" Ammeter wiring help anyone?

However, I am perplexed by one thing: what does one do with the existing ammeter (stock location) connections? It appears by the diagram that maybe the existing red wire stays attached to the ammeter (and thereby gets power)... but what about the black wire?? If anyone has this factory setup and ca...
