Re: Disaster avoided today
This is the dropped tie rod end from Speedway? From what I can see in your picture, the break occurred at the beginning of the threads. Is this correct? Have you contacted Speedway yet and if so, what was their comment? I would have the other side magna-fluxed to see what you might find. Yes at the...

Disaster avoided today
Pulled the D100 truck out of the garage today. I’m backing up turning around and bang. Thank the Lord. I’m blessed this happened in the driveway and not running down the road. Yup tie rod. Craig

Re: part number for 61'tapered non flange axle seals
Hello guys. I really appreciate all of your timely input. Thanks so much. The truck is 99% original, so I want to keep the tapered axles even though I know they are a handful. I already removed the axles and third member. The axles actually have a wear mark from the old seals, probably 1/8 wide. An...

Re: part number for 61'tapered non flange axle seals
I found the seals but, IDK what they fit. My best guess is a 471862 and 6241S. I don’t think I had an issue with getting them. Just walked in to O’s and asked for them. But, as already stated, replace the diff with something else.

Look for wheel seal. Napa had them at one time.

Re: part number for 61'tapered non flange axle seals
I’ll look around and post. I may have saved the old seals. Don’t use the A7 sets (65 up 8.75) they’ll leak, larger inner diameter. You do have the special puller tool, AKA dog bone. You’re going to need a slide hammer or chain with a sledgehammer. PM sent. For others reading, try searching for more ...

Re: Scarebird brake issues
I put a late 80s gm master for a 1 ton truck on today. Like @JLeather It's an 1 1/4. This was the one hydro-boost guys use and it mates with the MC. I gained about 1-1/2 inch pedal height. I haven't panic stopped since it's raining here from Ida. I'm pretty happy with the pedal feel. I need to bleed...

Re: Scarebird brake issues
I used scarebird on my 60 d 100. It has crown Vic rear axle with rear disc and a master cylinder with booster from a 93 camaro. I also used an adjustable proportioning valve. As I recall I redrilled a new hole in the brake pedal about an inch lower which gave more travel to the piston. The pedal is...

Re: Scarebird brake issues
Small diameter master has to travel a lot further to move enough fluid to fill all 4 caliper cylinders. But PSI is higher so pedal force (feel) is lighter. Agree. I’m using a 80s Dodge truck 1 1/8 MC now and it helped. I may try A larger one or even one of the step MC but they say it is hard to ble...

Scarebird brake issues
I've already talked with another member here that has a similar experience with his scarebird front disks. The brakes stop the truck good now but, I really don't like the pedal feel. I'm not looking for a fix to my brakes in this thread...... I'm just trying to find out if others have had similar ex...

Re: Rear drum replacement part#
Sounds like wrong drum. That’s why I suggested you bring the old one to the store. No telling what’s been changed over the years. Might have cbody drums on it or who knows what.

Re: Rear drum replacement part#
Did you measure both drums to figure out what’s rubbing? Take both back to Napa and have them measure and throw it on their brake lathe. Might just need the edge cut. Craig

Re: Plugs fouling newly rebuilt '67 318
Looks like you’re going in the right direction. I’m still leaning towards a carb issue since the plugs are fouled. Is the carb new? It could be weak spark but I think you would have missing issues too. How much vacuum do you have at idle? The 670 is probably not too much for a healthy 318. I used a ...

Re: Plugs fouling newly rebuilt '67 318
Who broke the engine (cam) in and how did it run. Sounds like a poor adjusted carb, bad, or too big. What’s carb is on it? Can you borrow one from a buddy to try? In the other thread you said the plug wires are ok? Keep all this in one thread so we can follow and help. Craig
