Re: Brake booster question.
Yes the outer part of the push rod on the front of the booster does. I am talking about the rod under the dash that attaches to the pedal. I had to change the pedal end and need to adjust it. I changed my Challenger from power to manual brakes and had to change the rod you are referring to a shorte...

Re: w-100 drag link removal
How do I get the drag link off the pitman and or steering arm? I have removed nuts but A special tool? Beating? Thanks jim Leave the castellated nut on the tie rod end loose if you don't pickle fork it and just use a hammer, so you don't bugger up the threads if you go that route. And when you put ...

Re: 71 Sweptline in Socal pick your part
The pricing format at picknpull can be horrific. I found a p/s setup once and they wanted to price EVERY piece individually - each hose, each bracket, pump, each axle shim, drag link, cylinder, etc. It got so high for the "setup" that I walked away. I've done the same thing up here in Sac, their pr...

Re: 71 318 Fuel Pump install?
If you went as far as pulling the timing chain cover, I would change out the timing chain and sprockets too. A double chain set, cheap insurance for $40 or so. dodgeboykim has it right, the check valve isn't working properly probably or the diaphragm wasn't installed correctly or is cracked.....abou...

Re: New Guy in NorCal
Just remember...nothing is free. It might have been a state truck, but they're usually orange and/or white for CalTrans and green for the Park Department for as long as I remember back then. If the plates are regular truck commercial plates then it's probably not a state truck or if the date stamped...

Re: 71 318 Fuel Pump install?
Checked, needle not stuck. Pump isn't sucking out of a container a foot away, I'm not seeing any pulses in the small amount of fuel in the filters. on the pump concentric, I didn't realize it was a separate part, I thought it was an integral cam lobe. So can I get to this through the front cover or...

Think I'll paint my engine like that....NOT! The can must have ran out of paint before the air cleaner and fan.

Re: Help with '69 D100 318
Can you send a picture of the ore side of your carb and motor? I have a 68' with 318 and need to figure out how the kickdown linkage is supposed to go on a two barrel setup. Thanks This how I did it, used a piece of mounting bracket from an Edlebrock carb, cut and drilled a hole so the Carter would...

And the timing chain after 45+ years or your missing a tooth of the cam gear, seen that many times. Nylon cam gears suck. Get a double chain timing set.DavidWymore wrote:Runs good off idle to 4500 RPM, then valve float...he said they shouldn't float 'til 5000, so the springs are probably weak.

Re: 318 Poly rocker arm shaft questions?
I'm in the middle of a Poly rebuild and during cylinder head disassembly I discovered that the rocker arm shafts are pretty beat up on the ends from somebody pounding on them BEFORE they removed the locking pins. Needless to say I had to grind the ends down to get them to slide out of the heads and...

I have a 72 dart and the hinge spring popped off the stop, how the heck do I get it back on??? Easier to do than 'splan...

I'm also over on FABO and am into early-a's. The sweptlines are quite similar to early-a bodies in that they are polarizing (love em or hate em) and parts are difficult to find at times. I agree that this site is friendly and helpful like FABO. If you're looking for a sweptline, look in the northwe...

Thanks nytemuvr. I am actually native to Placerville. I have been contemplating this move for a couple of years. Once I looked into the cost of living and housing plus the lack of useless laws I pulled the trigger. The lack of traffic there helps too. A big benefit is my company is paying for the w...

Those HF frames are made of pressed steel and are very flimsy, without significant mods to the frame assembly. I sold trailers for seven years, and wouldn't touch one of those with a 20-foot pole! Yes, a lot of people use them for a base teardrop build, but for less money, you can have a frame buil...
