Re: need advice on hooking up engine to manual trans
I haven't worked with the early style (hydraulic) bells but on the later trucks with a mechanical clutch the flywheel goes onto the engine first, then the clutch/pressure plate assembly, then the bellhousing/throwout bearing/clutch fork assembly..Mounting the transmission to the bellhousing is the las...

Re: Tell me about trans mounts
Does anyone knw exactly when they started using the round ones in trucks? When I went to the local parts house that's what they showed for a 69 rear mount with automatic. I guess the best way to find out would be comparing different years. There are some flat mounts on ebay that state they were use...

Re: A different odd gauge problem.
Years ago (1989) I was having ignition problems that gave me fits.So I also threw in the towel and scrapped the whole ignition system and went with a Vertex magneto. By far the smartest thing I ever did..Still using it today! Sometimes punting IS the best option.nfury8 wrote:I threw in the towel yesterday

Re: vaccum leaks
If it runs better with a vacuum leak then I'd say your running way to rich. The extra air is allowing the excess gas to be burned better.

Re: A different odd gauge problem.
This sounds like its getting a little beyond the scope of what I'm proficient at dealing with. What model exactly are you working on. I do know that on the 70's trucks the ground is very crucial in making things work correctly. On those models the fuel and temp gauge work on varying GROUND resistanc...

Re: lift kit for my 64
According to the Skyjacker catelog the kit for the 1964 W200 uses the same springs (both front & rear) as does the kit for a 1978 W200.So the springs were the same width and lenght from I'd say 1961 thru possibly 1993 (excluding cummins trucks which used wider springs). The spring placement may have...

Re: NP205 rebuild kits
I'm not positive about the 1969 introduction date for the 205, but that's what I've always read and it was the first single stick transfer case used by Dodge.Seems like earlier model W-series used a twin stick 201 t-case that had the parking brake attached to the rear output. You mentioned yours to b...

Re: A different odd gauge problem.
I'm not much on electrical but the only thing I can see different between a running engine and one with only the key "on" is the source of voltage is the battery in the non-running state, while the source of voltage is the alternator/generator when the engine is running.I'm not familar with the work...

Re: It won't start Arrghhh!!
Not sure what year ride you're working on.On most older vehicles the ballast resistor is bypassed via the ignition switch (or a relay) while cranking (key turned all the way) so that the coil gets full voltage while the engine is turning over..When the key is in the on (run) position the voltage to ...

Re: 205 t-case rebuildable?
When in 4 lo or 4 hi the the front and rear output shafts are locked together and can't turn independantly from one another, or independantly from the input shaft either.Any slippage denotes a problem, but I hear these are very much rebuildable.
