Re: 1964? W300 Value

The vin will be stamped on the passenger frame between the front spring perch and the bumper. That's where it is on both of my 66 one tons. Compare it to the vin plate in the door jam to see if it has been rebodied. As long as you have a clear title and it matches the door jam VIN, it shouldn't matt...

yes and yes.

The stamped number on the frame can be hard to see. Its usually between the front spring perch and the bumper bracket.

there are a variety on there.

Jegs, etc. would also provide.

Re: Holley sniper efi

It all depends upon what you want. If you want cheap and simple, you can't go wrong with a carb. They've been around forever and there are some nice carbs around these days that work much better than the older stuff. If you know what you are doing (read a book or two), you can tune them very well an...

I replaced it with a Motorcraft 2100 series carb
That carb uses the holly style large flange vs the small flange on the Carter BBD / Stromberg that was stock on these trucks. Did you swap manifolds to something else, or did you use the conversion flange from Mr. Gasket or other?

Re: Looking for technical help and specs. Crews and general

Are the VIN numbers stamped in the frames? Several members have replied that the VINs are stamped on the frame by the steering box. I have a 66W300 crew, a 66D300 and a 69 W200. None of them are stamped anything in that location. For those of you who have seen the frame stamped with the VIN, where ...

Re: 1970 d300

I have a 66 W300 crew. I've only ever seen 1/2 and 3/4 ton crews. Yours is the only other one ton crew. If its the original small block, it should be an LA318. Do yourself a favor and buy a service manual for it. They are available as re-pops. I've found that the one tons are a little bit of a diffe...

Re: 51 year old wiring

Rather than making your own, have you considered a Ron Francis or Painless generic kit? Modifying them wouldn't be too difficult. I'm likely going to do a Ron Francis kit in the spring for my 66 D300 dump. The wiring on that truck is truly horrible.

You just make up your own.
Buy some tubing inserts (typically from an offroad place) and some heavy wall tubing.

Re: 2x4 to 4x4

Just did this on my kids truck (or more accurately, he did it and I acted as consultant). His is a 69 D100. We (I) bought a 67 W200 as a donor. The D springs are different than the W springs. There is a stock lift block in the back. You have to drill out the holes in the shackel hangers to the next ...

Re: 69 conversion to manual

Plans for a manual conversion were discarded today after a long talk with my son (he's 15 and its his first vehicle). It appears that the automatic that dodgeboykim has for the 72/78 club cab short tails is a direct drop in replacement, or at least as far as I can determine from my Hollander manual....

Re: 69 conversion to manual

Hmmm. Given me a lot to think about. I got a bit of a look at a 69 with a manual today and took some pics of the linkage. I wasn't able to do any measuring, as it was on a car lot - but at least I got a look. The NP465 is essentially an all iron version of the NP435 - with a granny low first. Popula...

69 conversion to manual

I'm taking the body of a 69 D100 with an automatic and transplanting it onto a 66 W200 chassis. The 69 body is going to get converted to a manual. I have the compete cab from the 66, so transplanting the pedal cluster looks pretty easy except the change from hydraulic to manual clutch linkage. I wou...
