Re: 69 D100 318- no start from key, starts from solenoid

Just realized I'd never followed up on this. In answer to my original question, jumping 'BAT' to 'ST' IS how you bypass the key switch. Which really was all I needed to know, but thanks to everybody who gave me all of the other answers besides that one  I checked continuity on the wiring and th...

Re: 69 D100 318- no start from key, starts from solenoid

Morning All. Took the truck to the store yesterday and when I got back to the truck it wouldn't start from the key. Switch it to 'run' and all of the dash turns on, radio works, fan works, etc. But nothing at all when I turn it to 'start'. So I set the parking brake, put it in Neutral, made sure th...

Re: 69 D100 318- no start from key, starts from solenoid

I appreciate the responses, but nobody's answered my question... All I need to know is what wire to jump on the back side of the key switch to test whether the problem lies with the key switch, the solenoid, or the wiring between them. Does starter Sol get 12 V signal from Ign switch in start positi...

Re: 360 Crate Magnum with 904 vs 440/727 OPINIONS NEEDED

Thanks for the reply. Originally had way more info in this post but that was nearly a week ago. 0 replies. So I deleted all the text. I probably wasn’t specific enough. I like this board but seems like it’s a seldom used and/or visted forum. Likely due to the fact there aren’t many sweptline owners...

Re: 360 Crate Magnum with 904 vs 440/727 OPINIONS NEEDED

It's my opinion that most types of pizza are delicious  Seriously, though, what aspects of these combos are you looking for opinions on? Both will motivate your truck very well. Both will get bad gas mileage and make lovely lovely noises while they do it. The 440/727 is generally stronger in st...

Re: Rear min seal replacement

I know you can on the 4 speeds, but it's a pain. You have to drop the oil pan and loosen the crank bolts to do it, and work the new seal around the bearing journal. You're doing all of this with old oil dripping on you, working over your head, with minimal room to work and half the time you're doing...

A 235/70R16 is the closest available to a 235/75R15, for what it's worth.
The average 235/75R15 has an outside diameter of 28.88 inches. The average 235/70R16 works out to 28.95

Re: 1968 D100 gauge cluster lights

if you have a manual I think the bulb numbers are in there. try playing with the headlight switch by rotating it back and forth. sometimes they will come on. the dimmer is built into the switch and they get corroded over the years. I have had many many old vehicles that the dash lights start workin...

Re: 1969 D100 blower speed switch removal

Well that is a simple trick. Unfortunately my glovebox is still in decent shape and I'd like to keep it that way :pale

Maybe I can pull the radio and have the girlfriend go in through that opening. She's got bitty little hands. :thinking

These are the oldest pictures I have of mine; they're just from the late 90's, according to the previous owner. But, that's still 20 years old.

Damn, I was afraid of that.
You're supposed to tell me that it's an easy removal because there's some simple trick to pop the assembly out!

Thanks for the info. Looks like I'm playing contortionist this weekend :banghead

Do u have AC?
No. The assembly that I'm referring to is the bracket for the cables that control air flow/temperature. Is there a difference for how it's removed if you have A/C?

1969 D100 blower speed switch removal

Hey all. Looking for an assist on how to remove the speed control switch for the blower motor from the dash. Mine decided the other day that it wasn't going to engage any more, so now I'm stuck with a fan that constantly blows on 'low' whenever the key is switched on. It looks like the switch is scr...

Re: 68 NP435 - any gearing changes available?

You must, because I have the granny tranny in my '84 and with 3.55's in the axles I don't think it'll even DO 10mph in 1st  3rd is also only good until about 40-45, and when I do that the old Slant sounds like it's going to explode. Edit- On the other hand, it's absolutely spectacular for plowi...

Re: king pin ball bearing

I know that I'm late to the party here, but when I installed my bearings in my kingpin kit last summer I used a grease needle (like for sealed ball joints or tie rods) to fill mine with. I just stuck the needle into the gap and pumped in as much grease as they'd hold. Then once they were installed a...
