Re: How to remove my horn button?
By the way - I ended up using one of those rubber grippers for opening jars to get a better grip on the button when trying to turn it. Worked like a charm!

How to remove my horn button?
This is a '65 and I'm assuming the wheel is original. I've tried what the manual says, compress and turn clockwise 1/4 turn, but no luck. I'm also assuming that my manual's instructions apply to this style of horn/wheel. I realize that's a lot of assuming. Anybody know any tricks to remove the...

Re: HD Gauges Wiring Question
Thanks so much for the advice! Yes, that's a vacuum gauge off to the right. I haven't pulled it out yet.

HD Gauges Wiring Question
None of the HD gauges on my 65 PW have ever worked since I bought it. I finally decided to pull them out and have a look, and they were a bit of a mess. It looks like at least 2 wires have been clipped and I'm not sure if all the others were plugged in correctly in the first place. Anyone have advis...

Re: Special Equipment Codes?
That does appear to be the large knuckle Dana 44. I upgraded the small knuckle in my 66 W100 to the large knuckle I removed from a crew cab 40 years ago. You haven't by chance, found a good way to do a disc brake upgrade on that axle have you? Seems that most of the kits I've found are for 2wd setu...

Re: Special Equipment Codes?
Does your truck have a large knuckle DANA 44 in it? John I believe it is considered large knuckle but I need to find the numbers to be sure, I guess. Unfortunately I don't have it at my house right now but here are some pics of front axle IMG_0653.jpg IMG_0694.jpg IMG_2413.jpg IMG_2415.jpg

Re: What the heck is this attached to my generator?
Thanks for the feedback, please see below 1. I'll defer to you and the other folks on this forum but it sure looks like the selenium rectifiers I've seen in pictures. I've found references to them being used on M37's and crash trucks so I'm not sure. I assumed it had something to do with rescue or r...

Re: Special Equipment Codes?
Thanks! Yeah, I was hoping to find a reference that told exactly what they were. I saw one for sale on EBay once but didn't buy it. Figured it would surely be online somewhere but no luck so far. It has what appears to be a vacuum assist brake setup and has 16.5 in wheels. Think the front axle is a ...

Special Equipment Codes?
Anyone have the magic decoder ring for special equipment codes? I've looked around online quite a bit and can't seem to find anything. Thanks!

Re: Hood Hinges - What's the difference?
Ok, thanks! So don't mix left and right with different styles but sounds like I should be able to swap out the old set for the newer style right?

Hood Hinges - What's the difference?
I have some hood hinges on my 65 PW that were apparently damaged when the hood was over-extended backwards. I got another set off a donor truck that was a later model (69-70?) and they appear very similar, except there is an extra set of short springs attached to a metal tab on the set from the dono...

Re: Original Lift Height on a W-200?
Thanks! One reason I'm asking is because I need to put some shocks on it. I bought it and there weren't even any on the front and I'm not sure if the rear are correct. Have you guys been able to order straight from what the parts catalogs specify or did you have to measure yours to get it right? I'v...

Re: What the heck is this attached to my generator?
Thanks WD! I think you're right. Did a little more searching and that is exactly what it is. I'm out of my depth, but from what I've read, these were used for auto charging systems before diodes became reliable, to support extra electrical gear like radios, etc. This article discusses them briefly a...

What the heck is this attached to my generator?
Anyone know what the heck this thing is with the fins? My '65 was a fire service vehicle and has the original generator and this thing attached to it.
