Re: Need help finding a cheap 4bbl intake for 318 poly
For headers, you are dollars ahead to weld-up a set or modify a set. I did a bunch of research and found that 302 -351 Ford exhaust port center to center distances are very close to the Poly. The only issue was the Poly head flange angle as compared to the Ford. One option is to cut off the Ford fl...

Re: Power Steering Assist Mystery
FYI - Our Steering Gear boxes were manufactured by Saginaw. The Power Steering Pump I have is an Eaton U-Series Pump. Exact model cannot be determined unless the pump is taken apart by a knowledgeable builder. http://www.straightlinesteering.com/ Straight Line Steering can rebuild (if in rebuildable...

Re: Power Steering Assist Mystery
Dealer's install a multitude of items and that is considered "after market", not factory. I have a garrison system on a 70 W200 crew and recall it has a reservoir like that also. Been awhile since I looked at it and its at a distant location. Cool, thanks for the info. Do you happen to recall, or w...

Re: Power Steering Assist Mystery
well, someone also installed the period-correct - saddle tanks, rear bumper, luggage rack, bed racks, and bed tie downs - So I could see the owner driving it off the dealers lot and down the street to "Campers-R-Us" for the "Road Trip Kit" ---- but I guess we'll never know for sure. I just know I'm ...

Re: Power Steering Assist Mystery
oh, good info, thanks for the page!! so mine is a "6 man cab" (crew cab) but a W200, not a D200 - hmmm... :thinking So it *might* be a 2237 186 control valve, which makes it a 2227 704 housing. Ok, well, I just got off the phone with Mark @ Straightline steering inc. Good guy. the website I found fo...

Re: Power Steering Assist Mystery
aha, Well, more scouring and I answered (I think) two of the questions - 1- here is the double-threaded end garrison valve, http://www.straightlinesteering.com/Control%20Valves,%20Cylinder%20and%20Steering%20Cylinders.htm Scroll down just a bit, #3. 2- ....which says this was offered on Dodge .... Group, So in my truck - http://www.sweptline.org/forums/viewtopic.php?f=34&t=36978 In my thread here I show a picture of the ram-assist cylinder, and the pump and remote reservoir, what I do not show, but intend to upload tomorrow, is a picture of the shuttle valve - which is the key element here, m...

Re: Need help finding a cheap 4bbl intake for 318 poly
the custom "air-gap" style from Chrsyler Power is the *ONLY* 4-BBL intake in current production. PERIOD. You could hold out hope for an original cast iron unit ..... and hope you pay less than the $600 CP wants for theirs.... and hope it isn't warped or cracked.... and then settle for the vastly inf...

Re: 4x4 conversion
i'm in the midst of converting my 66 4x4 into a more modern 4x4, so while not exactly the same I can speak to many of the issues you're going to encounter. a "period correct" axle will "drop in" the easiest .... leaving you with manual drum brakes. not exactly ideal on a 3/4 ton truck that could ost...

Plan to switch to the newer style power-gear box for the steering. prepared to put new spring mounts on the chevy axle. If the chevy axle is a titch narrower or wider than the dodge, i'll deal ...

Re: Bent Crew-Cab Body ..?
ah-ha, now that's a useful tidbit i did not know. interesting. well, my goal is to make "the line" as straight and even as possible, i've already gotten darned close, but close and "there" can be miles apart... but it's good to know i might be fighting a losing battle and have to settle for original...

Re: Bent Crew-Cab Body ..?
I did get the pics, thank you. I see you reproduced the factory body mount and sheet metal profiles. I am not. I like what you did with the door hinges though. Well, I've already formulated a plan for my new body mounts, and I think I know how to attack this now. unfortunately my hopes for a magic-w...

Re: Bent Crew-Cab Body ..?
actually, I've already welded in the new step pans under the doors... and they are 12 ga. stainless. So a considerably stiffer rebuild there. I am using a mix of 16 ga and 12 ga stainless for all the fabrication on this. (some 14 ga, but I don't have very much of that) Yes, both front rockers are ru...

Alright, So we know which truck we are discussing... http://www.sweptline.org/forums/viewtopic.php?f=34&t=36978 This trucks forward body mounts were so rotten the front firewall was completely collapsed onto the frame, the tranny tunnel was resting on the trans, the under-cab brace behind the front ...

oh, I know. or at least I do now. and I really appreciate ya'all's help sorting this out and determining what mine is, and isn't. kind of sad mine isn't a CSS, also relieved, as now I can modify it and add the disc brake axle and throttle body EFI and not feel guilty about altering a 1-of-1. just po...

Re: W200 disc brakes?
by wilkin250r » Wed Oct 29, 2014 12:08 pm I'm VERY curious on the outcome of this. Even if it means finding/buying a complete new axle, I would love to have disc brakes on the front of my 63. Very few things of this nature are "bolt on". What axle(s) would I be looking for, and what would need to h...
