Already bought the ethanol to clean the system.
I hope you meant Methanol (denatured alcohol), not ethanol. The latter won't work.
Yes, methanol. I paid extra for the M!

...a hardline loop to the slave ...
My '67 has a hard line from master to slave with a single loop near the slave end. The loop is about 3" diameter and is located right where the firewall tucks back from vertical.

Ken
Thanks Ken
Does the loop lay flat to the ground or on edge?

Re: Hydraulic vs. Mechanical Clutch

Already bought the ethanol to clean the system. Considering I don't know how many times I'm going to have to tear the system apart to get it working correctly or to replace parts, I'll probably just start with Dot 3 first rather than dump $30.00 of Dot-5 on the ground. Once the system has proven its...

Re: Cutting front fenders open. How much hate mail here?

Mine are wood rats or pack rats. I live in the woodlands too. Anywhere they can build a nest of sticks, and anything else they can chew and steal, they will. They'll chew up belts, hoses, wiring, plug wires, plastic trim, seat cushions, etc. I have to leave the hoods open on all my vehicles that mat...

Re: Cutting front fenders open. How much hate mail here?

Thoughts? Reminds me of my old '69 flatbed. The cowling has been rat habitat for almost 30 years. Oh, you run a rat sanctuary too huh! I finally got fed up 1-1/2 yrs ago of being over run and built 5 tipping tube traps and caught over 60-70+ of them since. They're finally scarce on my land an...

Re: Cutting front fenders open. How much hate mail here?

1 ton fenders are unique to 1 tons. But if they're beat to hell, no great loss. If you don't want to cut them, u can swap in 100/200 fenders, or 400/500 fenders and gain a lot of clearance. But the steps won't attach to 100/200 fenders. Thanks I knew they looked different w/t wide flare, but though...

Re: New guy messed up!

Even the transfer case for a full time 4WD is different than a TC for a locking hub front axle. I like 74 and older for the divorced transfer case and lock out option. You can probably use a lock out front axle w/ full time transfer case if you leave the front axle locked in all the time.

Re: NP201 Twin Stick Question

You can leave the front hubs locked in or not when driving in 2WD.
You NEED the front hubs locked in when driving in 4WD.
If you plan to drive 10+ miles in 2WD, I would unlock the hubs. Otherwise, if you're just running short distances going from 2 to 4 to 2 to 4, etc, just leave the hubs locked.

Cutting front fenders open. How much hate mail here?

Truck is my 61 W300. Bed is home made for a gin pole. Cab has rusted out drivers side floor board and not a piece of straight sheet metal on it. Hood has been flipped, buckled and cracked at some point. I'm running 16" tires, worn down all terrains w/ chains all the way around. I don't take the truc...

Re: Hydraulic vs. Mechanical Clutch

So I went to O' Reilly, they had a little bottle of Dot-5 for $10.00. :pale
They also had their house brand of Hydraulic clutch oil for $5.00. Anyone know about or use this stuff?

Re: Hydraulic vs. Mechanical Clutch

Thanks for the input. For sure on the Dot-5 changeover. I never have help on vehicles so I know how to do the bottle bleed w/a 2x4 against the pedal! LOL. I was wondering about just making a hardline loop to the slave if I couldn't find the hose. My line leaves the firewall and runs straight down an...

Re: Hydraulic vs. Mechanical Clutch

Thanks Probably is best to work with what's there now and at least give it a try. The slave cylinder has a short length of rubber hose running to it. The remainder of the line being solid tubing. Anyone have any idea where I can get the short flex hose? Maybe it has common fittings on it and a std b...

Re: Hydraulic vs. Mechanical Clutch

Hello all. Been awhile since I've been on here and messing w/ PW's. I have a 61 W300 318, "yes, pretty rare beast" that I need to get back to running. One issue is the hydraulic clutch. I think the last time I messed w/t truck the clutch master cylinder was leaking. I ck'd it today and it was dry an...

Re: Another $ victim of Inline Tube, Inc

I do like the Mastercool hydra flaring tool. I'm in debt so should not even be buying the lever tool. LOL. I have a friend that has a lever tool so I'm going to borrow it for the one job I have for now until I can get my own. I just read some comments about guys still able to use their mechanical to...

Re: Another $ victim of Inline Tube, Inc

There is a very nice hand held hydraulic unit, but they run around $300.00. This was the bench mount turrent type w/ cam leverage handle. Does professional single and double 45's and the euro bubble flare every pull of the handle. You can also buy a turrent for doing 37 degree flares. https://www.yo...

Another $ victim of Inline Tube, Inc

OK, I should have heeded the internet warnings and paid more $ elsewhere, but how could they screw up a simple order? Ordered the fancy $199.00 line flaring tool. 25' of 3/16 coiled line and some fittings. + $20.00 for shipping. So I get this huge box w/ the line and fittings 3 days later, but no to...

Re: W300 transfer case PTO attachments? Practical? NE1 use i

Thanks for the clarity and sanity check! LOL :salut I guess just because it could be done doesn't mean it should be done. Yes, smart time and money would be to sell some trucks off and just buy a tractor. That's IF I can sell the old beast. It's pretty rough on the body. I have a torch, welders, mat...

W300 transfer case PTO attachments? Practical? NE1 use it?

I have a 61 W300 w/a 318 A/poly. It has a front mount PTO winch that runs of the LH side of the tranny. There is also a rear facing PTO output shaft on the LH side of the transfer case. I have done a little research on the rear facing PTO drive and it has been mentioned that "people" have used it, b...
