Cab leaks
Well we finally got some rain in California. As good as that is, I've discovered I have a leak someplace. The water ends up collecting in the drivers side floorboard a little aft of the clutch pedal. Any collective wisdom in where to hunt this down? I'm getting set to put in a new vinyl mat and I re...

Re: Modifications to D100 for Vintage Camper
The truck has I believe 3 or 4 leaves in the rear springs. Turns out the original owner had helped springs installed as he had a camper installed back in the 60s. I'm assuming I'll be OK. The truck also had 16" factory wheels (5 lug).

Modifications to D100 for Vintage Camper
I just purchased a 1957 Sport King camper for my 1961 long bed utiline. I'm stoked because Walter King invented the Truck camper in the mid 40s and these rigs are very rare today. Can't wait to pick it up after Thanksgiving. That said, I need the wise counsel of this group on any necessary modificat...

NP435 Swap
Sorry for asking the same question again but my other post topic is not generating any responses. I have a 61 Ute with a stock 318 poly mated to a NP420. I'm looking to swap in a NP435. I realize I need a 10 spline input shaft and the ebrake setup. I have an opportunity to buy what I think is a NP43...

Re: Ebrake swap
One other question. The guy selling the tranny claims the tranny is an A435. I'm assuming its a NP435 but maybe I'm wrong. Anybody heard of an A435?

Ebrake swap
I have a NP420 with the 10 spline/ebrake setup on my 1961 Utiline with a poly 318. I would like to swap in a NP435 out of a 1965 Dodge truck /six and was wondering if this tranny was still the same input shaft configuration. Also, the tranny I'm looking at doesn't have the ebrake attached. Will my o...

Re: Swapping a NP420 to a NP435
Both trannys have the ebrake setup. I'm going to show my ignorance here so be kind. My 1961 318 does in fact have the 8 bolt crank, but I'm not sure how that impacts a tranny swap if you reuse the old flywheel and bell housing?

Swapping a NP420 to a NP435
I have a 1961 Utiline with the original drivetrain. I will be replacing the original 3.91 differential with a 2.94 to improve mileage and gain freeway drivability. This will pose issues with downshifting as I'm not adept at double clutching and the NP420 is only synchroed between 4th and 3rd. As suc...

Re: Need Stromberg WW Jetting Info and Recommendations
I know this is an old thread but in case anyone reads in the future, you will definitely need a special wrench to remove the jets from a Stromberg. The plugs come out with a screwdriver but not the actual jets. You can buy on EBay for about $20.

Re: Electronic Ignition for a 61 Poly Engine
Thanks for the offer Chris. I actually bought a 63 dizzy this morning on EBay for $25. I then ordered the Pertronix Ignitor II. Hope it all works out.

Re: Electronic Ignition for a 61 Poly Engine
I appreciate the feedback and humor, but there is a possibility that the Pertronix pickup screw pattern is different and therefore won't "bolt" on. Regardless, I'm not inclined to roll the dice on a $100 purchase with the hope of it turning out OK. That said, I did get the part number for a billet r...

Re: Electronic Ignition for a 61 Poly Engine
Don't know what to say except I gave him the distributor number (Chrysler#) and he assured me it would not work for a 1961. That being the case, I want to know what will work based upon others experience.

Electronic Ignition for a 61 Poly Engine
I'm looking to ditch the points in my 61 Poly and was hoping to put a Pertronix kit in. Pertronix's tech dept says their kits will not work on a 61 and prior Distributor. Anybody out there converted a 61 poly motor and if so, what are you using? I'm guessing the Mopar setup will work, but not sure i...

Poly lifter help
I'm in the middle of what started out as a simple valve job and has turned into rings, bearings, timing chain, etc. etc. I need to learn to leave well enough alone. Anyway, I pulled the intake and the valley was full of crud. I cleaned out the mess and now I want to remove and inspect the lifters an...

Re: 1961 bench seat upholstery and pattern
I'm not referring to my seat, I'm referring to the actual fabric sample SMS sent and saying is correct for a 1961. It doesn't look anything like what's in the thread referenced above. I'd like to keep it bone stock if possible.

Re: 1961 bench seat upholstery and pattern
Thanks for the reply. I've seen that post. The samples SMS sent me don't match any of the pictures in your post and I was wondering if there were other materials offered for a 61 with a Turf Green paint color.

1961 bench seat upholstery and pattern
Anyone got pics of what Dodge used for original upholstery material and what the sewing patterns were. I got vinyl swatches from SWS today and thay don't look like other threads I've seen showing 61 bench seats. Thanks for any help.

Re: Acceptable compression for poly engine?
Based on all the oil pumps available it appears that 62 to 66 are compatible (and cheap) but the 61 is a different and expensive duck.
