Center Link

I have a 1969 W200 Crew Cab. My front axle may be from a 68. Dana 44 pumpkin has 1868618 and 2018188 cast on it.

My steering center link is 11/16 which is making it really difficult to find correct tie rod ends. Does anyone know of an aftermarket source for simple center links?

Gracias.

Re: Tie Rod Ends

Thanks for the link. The Moog website has only a couple 11/16 by 18 tpi rod ends. None of them are shaped like the ones that came on the truck. I guess I'll keep looking. Thanks. BlueManCrew.

Tie Rod Ends

Sweptliners, I have a D200 crew cab turned W200 crew cab. The center link tie rod ends need to be replaced. The passenger and driver side shaft and threads are the same but the ball joint taper and stud are smaller on the passenger side. I've tried to identify the center link tie rod ends on the moo...

Re: 69 W200 Transfer Case Crossmember

Thanks. I took the drivelines off and took the following measurements at each pinion flange. Front to back....on my driveway which is not totally flat. Front of truck higher than back, but its all relative. * Back of engine/transmission = 5 degrees downhill * transfer case = 3.5 degrees downhill * R...

Re: 69 W200 Transfer Case Crossmember

Ok. Photo added. The angle I refer to is that flat riser head just below the leaf spring. Another reference point is the rear pumpkin cover flange minus 90 degrees. That Dana rear axle doesn't seem to have any easy obvious reference point.

Thanks.

Re: 69 W200 Transfer Case Crossmember

Ok. I need psychotherapy. Engine angle ( on my driveway) is +4.5 degrees downhill. My transfer case is +3.8. As measured by the bottom of the input vs. output shaft. My rear differential is -6 as measured from the top of the leaf spring riser (see photo). I don't know what a good reference angle is ...

Re: 69 W200 Transfer Case Crossmember

Yes I'm interested. What part of the country are you in? I'll look around for shipping options and get back to you. I'm guessing 1'X1'X3.5' would be the box size. Could you provide pictures?

Re: 69 W200 Transfer Case Crossmember

Thanks for checking.

I see on internet that some people make their own. Anyone have ideas on whether I should find used or try the McGyver route?

69 W200 Transfer Case Crossmember

I'm chasing down some driveline vibration on my 69 crew cab. The T-case cross member is a retrofit from an unknown truck and I had to drill new holes since none aligned with frame. This crew was 4x2 until I converted to 4x4. I think I'd like to replace the cross member with a known good un-bent unit...

Re: Drag Link

Ok, I suppose it could be worse. This was a D200 converted to a W200. I'm not sure what year the axles and steering gear came from. When I look for drag links it appears that there is a difference between 68 and 69. Is there a simple rule of thumb to tell the difference?

Drag Link

Does anyone know of a place to get a economical 1969 W200 steering drag link. Seems like the adjustable versions trend over $250. Does anyone have a part number for the basic stock part?

Re: Spark Plugs for 383 and Head Compatibility

I think the previous owner spec'd out the 440 heads for the 383. They came to me freshly built and wrapped in plastic ready to mount. I looked up the casting number and it came up with 76 to 78 mopar. I looked up spark plugs for a 6.6L and 7.2L motor that was in those trucks during those years. I co...

Re: Spark Plugs for 383 and Head Compatibility

The head casting number is 4006 452. I counted the threads in the plug holes and they appear to better match the shorter plugs. It is a tapered seat. Auto parts store cross reference to rv9yc brings up both short thread and long thread plugs. So what is the recommendation for plugs for this 383 moto...

Yes it is possible that it has motor home heads. How can I tell them apart? What might that mean for spark plugs?

Spark Plugs for 383 and Head Compatibility

Hello Sweepers. My son and I are rebuilding an old D200 Crew...turned W200 Crew. The 383 came to us fresh from the re-builders wrapped in plastic, along with complete fresh heads. I don't know where it all came from. I'm guessing it is all from a 1969 D200 or the heads could have come from another s...

Re: 383 Engine Vibration

Eureka! My son and I took off the bell-housing cover and checked clutch plate and flywheel while running. The clutch plate housing looked out of round...not centered. We took the clutch out and ran it and there was no vibration. This was a new clutch kit so either it was bad from the start or was da...

Re: 4X2 frame to 4X4 - Where to bolt Transfer Case

When you look at the spicer literature, they emphasize the need to get all the angles equal. Does the short shaft angle between tranny and transfer case need to be same relative angle as the long drive-line back to the axle?

Re: 383 Engine Vibration

I took off the flywheel inspection cover and watched the flywheel assembly. It looks round and balanced. But the clutch plate looks wobbly. I'm thinking it was damaged before I installed it. The round shoulder of the plate has a 1/8 to 1/4 inch wobble. It also seems like the bolt holes in the clutch...

Re: 383 Engine Vibration

How about a few more pieces of information. I know a little about 383s but, not an expert so one of them may chime in if I say something wrong. Do I understand correctly that the vibration occurs stopped/parked? Did the shop drill and install the pilot bearing or did you use a roller from a newer m...
