Re: Those of you running a Sid's dropped axle
Yes, front sump. The dropped tie rod ends were perfect!!! I've been thinking about taking out a leaf to get my truck to sit more level. Still a bit high in the front.

Re: Those of you running a Sid's dropped axle
I am running a dropped axle with a 383. There is a 2" gap between oil pan and top of beam, but axle is far enough back it clears the sump. I am running 5 leafs, stock. BTW, shouldn't matter if its a stock beam or a dropped beam, location dosent change. If bottoming out is a issue with a 318, you can...

Re: Need help w/window whiskers
Bend the tabs out just a little to help catch the hole. Start towards the front making sure they are all lined up before completely pushing them in. A flat screwdriver helps guiding them in.

Re: Need help w/window whiskers
I just installed new whiskers last night. I got mine through JCWhitney. Same "Fairchild" part as RockAuto but cheaper and free shipping! besides, RockAuto did not have the door kit in stock.

Parts Interchange
Does anyone know the part interchange between cars vs. trucks on interior parts? specifically window cranks, door pulls and arm rests. I have a '71 d100 looking to replace those parts with possible new re-production I'm not to worried about "correct" parts. I have found door pulls which I think are ...

Re: Lowered?
That does look stretched some. Stock front beam is about 4" center of spindle to center of beam. Take a measurement and see what you have.

Re: Power assist steering.
Maybe try testing each part individually and narrow down your problem. Or if your sure it's the control valve, maybe you can find a unmolested original. I feel your pain. I just removed my complete assist system due to leaking and not working correctly. In my opinion the power assist doesn't help en...

Re: front axle re&re
Hardest part for me was popping the steering arm off the drag link.(with power steering) I couldn't seem to find the right size fork. Everything else is pretty basic. Just a matter of swapping parts from old axle to new. Good luck!

Re: I bent the tube that holds the wheels in parallel, 66 W2
A new tie rod is pretty easy to fabricate. I fabbed one with drop ends to clear my leafs. Any fab shop should be able to weld some bungs on a length of tube, if they can't, they are not a real fab shop. Here is a link to my build, let me know if I can help in any way. http://www.sweptline.org/forums...

Re: Chopped Pitman Arm
I don't know the technical definition of "bump steer" but it is like driving with little control. the front wheels pull when brakes are applied or when ever the wheels are not strait. When you counter steer to keep it strait it pulls that way. Kinda fun but extremely dangerous.
